Can somebody explain the logic of this to me please?

If you were a young player and were offered the opportunity to join a top team in Portugal that regularly play in the Champions league, have won the Primeira Liga for the last three seasons and who have a 65000 seat modern stadium or us where might you choose?

Or the opportunity to earn twice as much in the premier league and make a name for yourself

Just saying that doesn't make it anything of the sort and actually makes you look a bit of a wally. If Roy says there's no deal beyond the current loan then, unless you are saying he's a liar or doesn't know what he's talking about (which hasn't been the case so far), then there's no deal beyond the current loan, whatever the chip wrappers in your country say.

Plus ‘chips’ and ‘wally’ in the same post. Disappointed you did get ‘saveloy’ in too!

I've heard no evidence of this mythical 10m fee. Roy himself said it wasn't the case. Unless i'm mistaken, it's utter bollocks.

No, Roy did not! And yes, you are mistaken!

I mentioned yesterday that I hadn't heard anything about this and the reply was akin to "You're the only one who hasn't" which led me to believe that there was some substance to it.Certainly wasn't mentioned to me.

there is another issue. if he left for Benfica, then his move from Benfica to Palace would surely be governed by Portuguese/English transparency rules...not Scandi ones. or no?

expat, can you find/translate the article that explains how the journalist knows there's an option. I'm not as sceptical as Mr Bexley, but would love to know. (not the entire article just the bit where they explain how they know)

And I'm still confused why we'd have done it the way we have. Again, I'm NOT disbelieving you.

That's the question many people don't understand but for the sake of argument, let's put the future fee to one side. Why would we loan a player who signed for Benfica 3 days earlier?

The whole thing is puzzling!

perhaps it's an FFP workaround where we might be able to afford him in the summer? are you gonna find an article that spells out how they know what they know (regarding the option)?

I'd suggest that you've chosen to take the quote that way as it suits your usual stance of trying to put others in their place; and as such you yourself could end up looking 'a bit of a wally' if it turns out to be that we do have a £10m option.

Either way though...i'd sooner not worry about any of this until A) he proves himself worthy enough to be in our side and B) we're safe from relegation.

I'd be more than happy if we didn't have an option but he saved us from relegation with his performances...as lets be honest that's what counts above any point scoring.

We can then all point fingers at one another once the facts reveal themselves.

If it was an FFP workaround it wouldn't make sense. Free in January or £10m in the summer. We still have to pay his wages now plus a loan fee so that really would make our transfer policy crazy.

Am I gonna find the article? No. I don't have a desire to be told by people I'm right and I have better things to do with my time than go searching for articles, tweets, etc. that I read 1-2 weeks ago.

My weekend won't be ruined by you disbelieving me, it won't effect Rakip's form between now and May and I doubt your weekend will be ruined either.

Believe what you want to believe and I'll know what I know.

Exactly. An option to buy for £10m isn't a deal in place (with the player) because as we've seen with some of our players, we can accept a fee but the player may have no intention of leaving.

We could trigger the option but the player might not think the weather in London is better than the weather in Portugal.
