Unfortunately we lack the players who are able to shoot with accuracy and power from a distance. When did we last score a goal from a shot outside the area ? That is why the injury to Bakary Sako is such a loss to the team..he has been the only player to shoot with power, pace and accuracy.

Away to Southampton?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Useless.

Can't blame Hennesey for anything that happened today so you have to find some other way of being negative.

Lot’s of things to be negative about today. You stick to your Prozac mate.

I'll go with The Beast Is Back, if you don't mind.

And I know it'll upset your biorhythms but I'm afraid Hennessey is looking much improved.

I do happen to agree there. If he can have the same effect as he did in the second half as last season then we’ll of course be fine.

Ultimately comes down to quality and ice in the veins which can’t be coached.

Well done to Luka today. Not a great penalty but deserved the bit of luck.

The frustrating thing about Benteke is that when things aren’t happening for him in front of goal you’d expect him to work harder for team and then the rewards will eventually come but he looks a bit like he lacks the ethic.

Second half we were so much less under pressure and so much more threatening with Sakho pulling strings and that back. Played some excellent balls through the middle of the park and just keeps everything calm and solid. No more booting the ball upfield and scrambling to get back in position for when it comes back. After he came on Toon really didn't look much like hurting us at all. Kelly has done well in central defence lately but doesn't have the same impact on the team as a whole.

Can someone please tell me why Hodgson can't have his half time chat before the game starts?

Evidently the PL footballer's memory lasts 45 minutes.

Pretty sure in our last 3 games we've had better first halves in 2 of them...(Burnley and West Ham)

We were helped yesterday by Newcastle sitting back a bit in the 2nd half since they were winning. We did do brilliantly though to pile the pressure on. Two incredible blocks denied us victory.

We played really well, just didn't take our chances. Am happy with that.

For all the stick people love to give Benteke, Zaha's miss was the worst of the lot yesterday from TFM's low cross. Benteke's first was average, good save by the keeper, and his header at the end beat the keeper but was blocked on the line. He was also really unlucky not to get the rebound from Darlow's save in the first half.

I don't think Wilf chases much more than Benteke does when they are both up front, but people have got it into their heads now, only scoring a few goals will start to change that. There was a long ball in the second half which was pinged way way past Benteke and the crowd went absolutely nuts that he didn't sprint after it. No one else was with him, the team has to move together.

I think for me it is corner taking which is more of a problem but it seems to be the best of the rest struggle with the concept of clearing the first man ( if you watch MOTD highlights )...so frustrating as a corner is your advantage so why don't they look for the Penalty spot where your big guns are running on to it instead of floating in a waist height one to the defender on the edge of the six yard box ....and what happened to the good old fashion man on each post , had we had one yesterday it would of stop the first toon goal .......Oh I know where they are , there all in the Penalty area dancing and pushing each other and trying to swap shirts
