This post has been merged from a topic called 'Wilf as winger and Jimmy Mac in behind the striker' by Midlands Eagle

In my opinion he does it to stretch teams, Teams are terrified of Wilf running in behind so they sit very deep, which restricts a lot of there attacking as they are already on the back foot.

Much as I believe that Roy has steadied the ship, I thought that his comments on Sky after the match were somewhat inappropriate. He complained that when he was interviewed, he wasalways asked for his comments on incidents and refereeing decisiona rather than tactical knowledge.
Well, his tactics nearly cost us the match yesterday, by playing Zaha upfront Rather than on the wing. As soon as he made the change and moved Jimmy further forward, we were a different team
He did the same with Loftus-Cheek in previous games, by playing him out wide where he was completely wasted.

With Zaha in the wrong position, we could have been 3-0 down at the break if Hennessey hadn't kept us in it.

Yeah, and the strange thing is that he must see the improvement when he changes it, but then he does it again in the next game, doesn't make sense

Like Burnley for example? That was the home game before last, not exactly a lifetime ago.

Well spotted, but before your sarcasm gets the better of you how about considering the facts:

1) West Ham - 2 down in first half salvaged draw
2) Stoke - 1 down and won
3) Bournemouth - 1 down in 10 mins ended in draw
4) Watford - 1 down in 3 mins and won
5) Southampton - 1 down in 13 mins and won
6) Newcastle - 1 down in 22 mins ended in draw

In fact, the only wins we have had where we have been first scorers are Chelsea, Leicester and Burnley and the only draws we have had where we scored first is West Ham and Swansea, so out of our 27 points only 11 have come in games where we have been in front.

Now that does not tell me that we are quick starters and play well in the first half. You explain to me how your thoughts differ.
