A serious management would have finished this discussion by the end of the transfer period and would have had a 22-25 player squad ready to play at any time.

Now it's basically come down to a bad free agent option (Nasri) or a second goalkeeper. It's been an entire January month to make transfers and think about which 25 men squad you'll submit. Transfers which could have been decided since November-December.

Who said we were taking a chance with a keeper? We have 1 fit winger and need two, that takes priority over another keeper who we can bring in on an emergency loan anyway.

What if the 25th spot was already filled by Nasri or another outfielder that we'd signed in Jan? Don't think the league can argue against it as signing a winger would be as a replacement for Sako and the need is doubled with Wilf out.

An emergency keeper is a loan, we'd take someone's reserve keeper from the Championship until we had a fit keeper from our 25 man squad.

Yes but that isn't the case, is it?

A competitor could argue that what we may do is bending the rules. Waiting to see if we need a player in a position and leaving the 3rd keeper unsigned to do just that.

Yes - I think if they are contracted then they have to be included in the squad. Isn't that why we didn't offer Perntrou a contract in the summer - so that we could have a squad space? oh by the way...he was a keeper.
