Yes, and if Benteke hadn't missed yet another golden chance we'd have been back in it. If we are relegated, he will be the player most to blame. He doesn't seem to read the game, he reacts too slowly, he doesn't gamble on positions, and he doesn't put himself about. His one strength is winning long balls but even then his passing his clumsy and Palace keep losing possession. A total disaster.

TFM IS a center half. One mistake doesn't make it otherwise

Not heading the ball that came down from above him after Tomkins connected would prove Mensah is not a centre half for the English leagues. That was truly pathetic and pathetic isn't a word that should describe a CB in this league. Head that ball away and they don't score. Simple as that. A mistake of not doing anything is pretty difficult to forgive and it's arguably lack of ability in, or understanding the role of, a centre back, than a 'mistake.'

Also his defensive work vs Newcastle was poor. Complacency towards his marking and duties vs his marker. Too far away from him and when he went over to meet him in possession it was slow, late and too far away. They scored and created chances from this.

Good in possession for a full back. Not good enough without possession. And he's had a bit of a run in the team too.

More effective in your opinion not the managers. Injuries have left us with such a weak bench that, despite having fresh legs, bringing any subs on would not have made us stronger or any more likely to score.

So the manager is always correct? They never do things because they are stubborn, trying to make a point or just out of ignorance?

Why do you say TFM is good in possession for a fullback? That's exactly what I think he isn't. He doesn't know what to do with ball, can't really cross. I'd say he's better without possession, but that doesn't make him a fullback.

He made a mistake. He's young, there's still much he has to learn. We have to have patience with him. But in the end, he'll either stop making those mistakes and be a solid centre back or make them again and prove he's not good enough for the league.

But a right back...never. aaaa, ok, he ca be a right back the same way Ward or Simon Francis or Simpson are....invisible (many describe this as "being constant", but constantly invisible is not what should be sought by clubs)

Goodness some people have short memories, I can remember this forum raging at Pardew for making substitutions when we were level, or ahead, and then disaster occurring. ie taking of Maca against Manure and then watching them go straight down the channel Macca was guarding and scoring the winner. It happened more than once but now some of you are moaning we didn't make any substitutions.

It's a pity a lot of people don't understand tactics.

Or how about taking off Benteke, moving Sorloth into the middle with Rakip on the right, put Townsend on the left?

We'd lost the game, save some leg and try things out.

Oh, and I don't think out best 11 was on the pitch because Sorloth isn't better than one or two on the bench at this stage of his career.

Really, what other striker was on the bench, you didn't mean lee surely.

Is he really? If he has the chance to use his speed to get himself out of trouble.
