Sounds so simple. But what if we didn’t go up, which for prudence they could never have assumed would have happened, certainly so quickly. They would have had to bankroll the club’s annual losses. I think buying a football club is about as bigger risk to personal wealth as you can get. How many outside the money bags league regularly return a profit?

A valid point and I guess that the club would have hoped for player sales to keep the losses down. In the first year the club lost £5m which doubled in the second year but those losses were almost wiped out by player sales after the second year end of £13m

Sadly SP has reached a level of incompetence and whilst he may be a good businessman he is not a good PL chairman, he lacks the knowledge and skills to be able to get deals over the, he does not learn from his mistakes which means he already made a second mistake and that is exacerbated each time he goes repeating mistakes. Please also remember he pays himself a salary of 700K per year so fans have a right to expect and demand better!

That 'salary' was the only income he'd taken & it was widely reported at the time that the Americans insisted he took a salary that year - something to do with his personal expenditure in getting the deal with them done & the way the buy-in was structured.

As for the whole 'taking the club forward' argument it wholly depends on what you take into consideration. If it's just footballing matters then there's a debate but if you factor in ground improvements, training ground improvements, moves to rebuild the academy, better medical facilities, sound financial base & an ambitious redevelopment plan then I think it's fair to =say we've come a long way already.

Ok, it'll mean less if we did get relegated but these are the areas where the Southamptons of the world are way ahead of us & (probably) need addressing as quickly as possible.

Does SP make mistakes - yes.
Could we do better - possibly.
Could we do much worse - definitely.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

Yes, we're thin at the moment playerwise. But changing the chairman - what a lot of tosh!!!!

Been a fan for quite a while. Being in the prem is precious and should be protected as much as is sensibly possible. We got here not really by building from above if you remember and may not return if we go down.

Having 1 striker and then possibly signing one who may or may not be enough to see us through and having 2 keepers for the whole season, oops now just the 1, isn't sensibly protecting the delicate and precious premier league status.

And don't tell me we didn't have money for a striker in August or a keeper in January as back up to Guaita when he does come, IF we survive.

Totally agree, it’s about being in the premier league and taking the necessary steps to protect that golden goose.

Parish is woeful at getting transfers sorted out to address critical needs.

Is it a coincidence that we have Dion Henry one back spasm away from being our starting goalkeeper in the premier league? No - it’s more p$ss poor squad management from Parish.

How on earth has he not replaced Mandanda, it’s unbelievable. The guy was signed for a reason, which still exists today, and he left so long ago.

Just reckless and crazy decisions regarding squad depth, time after time.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

If we go down this year, it is Parish's fault. Don't let the smokescreen of a new stand deceive you form his neglection of the academy, and failure to address issues that have cropped up over the past 5 years (lack of squad depth). Stoke have done it, why dont we? Too many yesmen, backing his every move because of what happened in 2010.

Yes he WAS a saviour, slowly tarnishing his reputation imo

Dont let Cabaye go

F*ck me!

Sack Parrish, he’s sh*t, he’s out of his depth, he doesn’t know what he’s doing, he keeps making mistakes etc etc etc …

Have you heard yourselves!!!

We’ve been buying players who cost millions, we have plans for the restructure of Selhurst (which we now own … yes, own!!!), we have reached a cup final, beat some of the best teams in the land season after season, we have an experienced manager in Roy H, we have a director of football and some structure around transfers at last (which is why we didn’t do something stupid like bring Sturridge to Selhurst … he went off injured after 3 mins last night), we are in our 5th season in the top flight … the list goes on!!!

Get over yourselves some of you! We were on the brink a few years back, have made steady progress and our fighting for relegation against established clubs – who have been run a lot better than us over the last 50 years – in one of the toughest relegation fights in years. We also have an injury list as long as your arm and lost twice to Arsenal & Everton recently … prior to that some of you goons were probably thinking of European football next season!

AND, if we do go down! Then so be it … f*ck it, in fact! Some of the winging plastic fans might actually f*ck off with their unrealistic expectations. Always the same when we go up, the ‘want it yesterday’ brigade turn up!

Fair play SP and keep up the good work! Yep, you’ve made mistakes but they have always been in the best interest of CPFC ... from day 1.

Has anyone tried checking those figures as I don't make it anything like £225m as my rough and ready calculations come out at £55m less than those figures

I agree with the sentiment of this post. Perhaps the plastics might like to pop over to the Valley where they have a fantastic owner much loved by the fans. Of course none of us are happy with the league position at the moment but lets not forget the good work that has been done.

Besides it wouldn't be Palace if we were not on the roller coaster. Some clubs never get promoted or relegated they just bump along in the lower divisions never get a star player or manager or a good cup run. Respect to those fans but as I tell my Millwall mates it's never dull being a palace fan.

And as my tag line says "one more point". That has always been true of Palace one more point to win promotion or avoid relegation we don't do easy.

One more point

We were losing £5 mil a year which was being covered by sales of players. Clyne, Zaha would've covered 2 years of losses, Williams would've covered at least 1 year of losses, possibly more. Then whoever else. Another reason why we should maintain our stay here as much as possible.
