Many a time I saw players writhing in agony on the pitch, but the sight of this old man running on with sponge to the ready to slide it down their shorts, amazingly got the player on his feet up and running before the old man got there.
It worked then, it could work again, unfortunately I except that old man has now passed away or been arrested.

In those days players were "Writhing in agony" as they were actually hurt unlike in this modern era when amateur dramatics comes to the fore.Players sometimes even grab the wrong leg to indicate an injury when contact was made with the other one !

Yes bucket and cold sponge and that 'Magic spray' !

I expect our soldier to feel his calf is okay when Zaha is okay to play.

I know someone who worked in the medical teams at both Wolves and Yeovil. He said it is very common for players to be on the pitch with pain killing injections. Often a player is encouraged to play through an injury in the hope of making it through to the summer and healing then.

But he said it depends on the manager. Some will give a player more time to better recover (not necessarily fully recover) and others will be desperate to get them back on the pitch even if there is a high chance of re-injury.

It is possible Sakho is not 100% fit, but is fit enough to play, but with a good chance of re-injury

Listened to Dean Saunders on TS this morning, speaking about the time he got an elbow in the face and had his front teeth knocked out and needed to have 16 stitches in his gums
He carried on and completed the game and went on to play 3 days later
Things have changed , these days certain players would have a month off with such an injury

Bert Trautmann played on with a broken neck in the 1956 FA Cup Final.

Call me crazy but with this latest no return date revelation unless he makes a ‘convenient’ return against Liverpool I have a feeling he may not play again this season , £23 million pounds well spent eh ?

Very mixed messages about this situation and hasn’t got a good look about it IMO.

Not much coming out from the club or him on social media either.

Agreed it is strange as he’s normally on twitter on Instagram posting pics of his progress unless he’s been told to keep a low profile as people are getting miffed with him being to scared to play
