You can't say '' we won't ''....you can say '' I don't think we will ''.

I agree that to do it requires our top players returning and delivering, but after yesterday's performance I think it would be disrespectful to the players and the manager to write them off. They don't look like they've thrown the towel in.

Semantics,semantics.
I live with an Ex-teacher of 35 years - seemingly I'm still being subjected to lessons on here !

With reference to the point about the players, they certainly played with great spirit and endeavour and we can all be proud of the 'Shift' they put in.

I think there is every chance we will be in the bottom three going into the Man Utd game and it will be the same as today with a backs-to-the-wall job and in all probability another defeat.

One can say that it will be a different picture when the injured players return but they will be returning at different stages and may a take a couple of games to get match-fit at a time when games are running out and every game is a 6-pointer.

I have advocated for a few weeks that I could not see us surviving and being pilloried as I have predicted this before and been proved wrong. But then was then and now is now.

Having analysed the current situation from different angles I firmly believe we will be relegated and when we do one can just imagine the ordure that will be heaped on a certain Mr Parish !

You firmly predict us to lose every match week in week out .... so no change there.
We will undoubtedly slip into the bottom 3 soon and this site will go into the usual meltdown. However there is an argument to say that now is the best time to have this injury crisis as even at full strength we would struggle for points against top 6 sides. A couple of wins can boost a team from bottom 3 to mid table.
It will be a nervy run in for quite a few teams this season but I believe we have enough quality to pull clear. I predict survival.

Despite our perilous position I am of the firm belief that if we stay up next season will be a totally different proposition if Roy stays on for another year. We have a top-class goalkeeper on a pre-contract, a number of players out of contract who are no longer good enough who we can clear out and possibly the Amadou lad to come in. Roy will have a whole pre-season to take stock and discuss how he wants to mould the team and he can also decide whether to put this season behind Bentenke or move him on.

Without the injuries I firmly believe we would be almost safe by now, but we have to suck it up, not be a negative Nanny, and fight to the end. If at the end we get relegated then we can all congratulate those who foresaw our demise.

Lose three out of the next four (which is distinctly possible) and it could be very difficult to row back from the edge of the falls. Even our decent run undefeated couldn't put any sustained daylight between us and 17th. I hope that, by 7th April, we can get the points we need from six games, but we've proved time and again that 'winnable' and actually 'winning' are two very different things.

I actually think losing four out of the next four is distinctly possible and I hate to think how far off 17th place we would be then.

The OP said staying up, yes or no. I think yes, however certain posters have posted 4 times or more on this thread alone. Does it really take that long to say yes or no?

I won't be looking for any 'Congratulations' I can assure you.

I want to be proved totally wrong as I have been in the past and I was humble enough to highlight this by instigating a thread but I was pilloried for doing so.

I will get enormous pleasure from seeing us survive - I really cannot see this happening

Kind regards

Negative Nanny

Well he/she can't be a very good teacher then. :-)

It's not a question of '' semantics '' - it's opinion. Which differs from mine and I have no problem with that.

To say '' we won't do that '' is your view not a fact, and you could turn out to be right. But until then I don't see how you can say that.

I totally agree with these sentiments.

Sometimes it takes a long time to say yes and sometimes no. More often than not it just depends. Maybe.

I can assure you my wife was a very well respected teacher.

One can get into the minutiae of terminology and split hairs but at the end of the day my overall message is as clear as the Aurora Borealis.

Seemingly more importance is attached to the use of words than the actual subject matter. But I thank you 'Sir' for the lesson and I will attend the detention later.
