I hear you there but I also note that SP was very candid when he acknowledged this as a mistake. Didn't seem to me that he tried to make and excuse or cover it up - he admitted he got it completely wrong, from what I seem to remember.

Then in the same breath eulogised Fraizer Campbell and how he should've kept him and how he's the answer as our back up striker. Sure Steve, if it was Campbell for 4 months, how great would that be? Would the new stand plans be released?

He then went on to say only teenagers on twitter criticised him with rubbish when in fact there's loads of constructive criticism on HOL and the BBS. We got lucky that Roy's team playing cup finals every week earned so many points, but that took its toll with injuries. What does he do? Under deliver to the manager. Parish will never learn. Only if a new manager has come in and we're still in the sh1t in January will he deliver. In August? Nah. We'll see what happens when the window closes before the season starts, if we survive.

both things can be true: SP can be praised for his positive efforts - saving the club, keeping us in the PL, stadium improvements and plans.

he can also be criticized for horrendous transfer dealings. it's obvious that his negotiating tactic is to play chicken and get concessions at the last minute. but it's a sellers market, not a buyers. this strategy will never work. a kids team coach would be criticized for going into a campaign with one striker, a poor goalie with the only backup being a pure emergency play.

he's moaned that the supporters wanted sakho and somewhat his hands were tied. but that would have been forgiven if he brought in some squad depth and simply said, "we can't poor that much into one player. so we went with improving the overall squad depth and will try to develop players."

You honestly believe that: a) We were lucky to get points from the matches we won and drew and b) The reason we have so many injuries is because our players tried too hard in matches? Really?

Well - it has run out and it hasn't.
It has because they took it up and invested money to do so and they have now got their money back and some!
SP is now effectively the CEO of CPFC2010 and so he is in a paid role I suspect?
So "they saved us" has long gone now and it is just another football club with people running it.
It hasn't because what he and the others did should never be forgotten.
Not only did they take it over, they have invested in the future and managed to get the Ground as well.
So every bit of praise for that is due but right now.................

Lets talk Wickham, as some folks mentioned him here. In a vacuum, signing Wickham was good business, he wasnt too expensive and many in the game probably feel he has not fulfilled his potential yet and could be very effective.

The problem with Parish, time and time and time again is he cannot seem to put together any kind of cohesive strategy on anything we do. Wickham had a history of injuries, so great, go out and sign Wickham, but DONT leave the strike force so thread bare by failing in other transfer attempts that he is basically your number 2 guy, in a group of 2, because he has a history of injuries.

Some players are simply more injury prone than others, and many people in the game try to understand why that is, sometimes to no avail apparently. Lo and behold he goes down with a lengthy and serious injury.

The failure of Parish is depth in the squad. When you totally fail to have any kind of depth in attack, then when you get injuries or dips in form (which sometimes are created by complacency when there is no competition) you are opening yourself up to trouble.

When Niasse's brother wanted a brown paper envelope we should have given him one, a season ticket, a dinner date with the crystals and a free pass to Speroni's restaurant, if that is still going.

Dont make a habit of doing that but we were in desperate need, the club had targeted Niasse, had him in the building, and then didnt get it done.

Parish really, really struggles to get it done. Look at this keeper we are supposed to be getting in, he is training with us already and still we havent signed him up. We went into the Spurs game without getting that sorted out beforehand. Why? Why cant we ever get something sorted out in a timely fashion?

Something is wrong with the way we operate with the amount of time it takes to get deals to limp over the line, and the amount which fall through at the last minute.

At least learn your lesson Steve? But no, again we go into the last day of the transfer window scrambling around like mugs.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

In my opinion SP is a businessman who does not like to lose in a negotiation. Unfortunately the world of football is so corrupt and full of back-handers that unless you bend over and take a shafting once in a while you will never get to buy who you want. It may just be that SP's negotiating stance that he has used in business all his life simply doesn't work very well in football.

His biggest mistake to date in my book was not replacing Campbell immediately with an upgraded replacement. Campbell is a third rather than a second striker and everyone knew Wickham's injury was serious and long term.

Wonder how he will try and spin Roy walking out this summer, after (hopefully) keeping us up. If he achieves that his stock will be high, and no way will he put up with another year of incompetency, bulls*** and negligence from Parish. He deserves better.

Well I tend to agree & Roy has said as much in the past. The position we are in has players fighting hard, making big tackles & putting a foot in where others might not. The extent of impact injuries points tat this which is what Roy was saying when the poor run of incidents started.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

So, why has this not affected other teams to the same extent then. Do they have different agendas to us?

yeah, he's trying to save every single pound he can. but it doesn't work that way when buying players. you can't drag these things along, praying that the seller will cave. because they won't. they don't need to. the whole world knows that hte PL clubs have money and any seller is going to make them pay. if we won't, someone else will.

I said earn so many points in total, not lucky in every single match getting the points.

Have you ever noticed how once teams reach 40 points the workrate and results slide? So yes, we were going at it full pelt every match, as Roy pretty much said we were going to, because we were up against it with a pathetic start, again, and it took its toll. How good were we in the closing minutes? We were fighting more when the opposition had us all over them, and them hoping the clock runs out.
