Parrish has totally lost it.
Of course any business needs a contingency plan in the event of failure.....but DONT share your thoughts with the press, especially in the football world where everything is exaggerated.
A good business leader knows when to speak out and when to keep their lips sealed.
This is yet another huge mistake......and puts massive pressure on an already very weakened squad.
Not good not good at all Im afraid.

It's a pretty dumb ass statement from a Chairman ... if he made it?

I tend to agree.

As Willo and others pointed out he would be stupid not to ask the question, "what do we do if?", but his remarks didn't exactly sound as if they were likely to motivate, encourage or fire up the players for the run in, did they? It was tantamount to chucking them under the 'bus.

Perhaps he feels like the one who has been chucked under the bus by them and that is why he’s made the comment? Just playing devil’s advocate here.

Hadn't thought of that! Not by the players generally I think, but maybe Ben^H^H^Hone or two of them.

Not like he’s paying them peanuts and has bent over backwards to get a few of them onboard.

We knew last summer, over 6 months ago and probably longer, we needed a striker and a goalkeeper, how about that for planning. So totally agree with the poster above.

Make that 'probably longer' 9 months, mate.

I totally understand that Parish’s comments have been reported out of context, as he clearly states that this is just contingency. I do however find that by broaching this topic he is completely irresponsible, because the headline splashed all over the media today is Palace preparing for the championship with the inference that we have handed in the towel. I bet our lovely rivals are laughing their collective arses off. We could could have done without this headline at this stage of the fixture run in.

If you’re asked directly about relegation, do you not answer, lie, or state you have a contingency plan that you hope won’t be needed.
Parish did the latter, I can’t understand the hysterics

Not this season. They've been playing at their highest levels every week since Frank left.

In previous seasons you have a point. Trying to think of when and the Sunderland 0-4 springs to mind when they wouldn't respond, and it taking that result, Parish bursting into the changing room and the team into training at 7am on Sunday for some home truths.

There was an element to this under Pardew for example when we saw Hull walk through our defence but having said that, Pardew's organisational skills were awful.

Actually they weren't responding to Frank so they did let Parish and the fans down then. But there was one small problem. Frank's methods and the unlikelihood of it working meant it was bollox.

Parish really means it's the points that decide our fate this season and it's on the pitch where the players are that decide/earn the points. Not really much else to that part, although he hasn't made their task much better with only Sørloth resembling a prem footballer.
