"By his fruits shall ye know him".

Jesus was warning us about false prophets. People who say the right things, wear the right emblems, go to church, perform the right rituals and do everything outwardly to appear as if they follow Him, but whose hearts follow their own devices and desires which lead them into sin.

There is nothing Satan enjoys more than masquerading as God.

As long as it doesn't affect me then religious people can believe in whatever they like.

Personally I believe they're all easily led and gullible, and that it's all cobblers.

I hope they're happy with my beliefs too.

I'm a non-religious person but recently I was in a group conversation when religion came up.I mentioned that I was brought up in the Baptist religion and a woman replied that there is only one true religion and that's Catholicism, then a jewish guy harped on about the jews being God's chosen people,no wonder people cant live in peace.Religion is poison.

Live and let live. I always try to give religion the respect it deserves.

Q. did you hear about the irish Exorcism ?

A. they had to call the devil to get the priest out of a child.

People often express their distaste at an apparent Muslim takeover - forget all the politics, but all the shop owners, traders and professionals I've met from Muslim countries have never inflicted any grief on me personally, perhaps because I haven't got close enough, but nearly all the Christians I have met have been either weirdos or nasty bits of work who act nice and do good deeds so they can look down their nose upon and hate genuinely nice people. It's probably 'believers' who are the problem - I'm agnostic not atheist btw and I respect the morality that religion tries to spread, and I have met some lovely, quiet Christians - most of us are non-committal these days or just pay lip-service to some vague belief - but would you want a Christian as your boss or drinking partner? Forget the politics of it all, just your genuine experience, most people if you say you're a Christian they treat you like a Jetihovah's Witness, and with good reason, my statistical and personal experience of Christians tells me to avoid. Anyone agree or not?

Would this thread be allowed if the title was Muslims and the OP started the thread saying that he "had never met a nice Muslim"..

No - didn't think so..

Yes it would be allowed and I would give exactly the same answer as I did in this thread with just the one word changed:-

I think that probably says more about the people that you meet rather than Christians in general.

Individuals are individuals. As for religion it's s very difficult to find a nice one.
Quakers possible exception.
Buddhism seems OK, more philosophy than religion, saying that tho, there is a certain Buddhist country being a bit nasty to some of its citizens.

Not really good for business if a shop owner or trader inflicts grief on people.

Best way is as Badger says and then treat people with an open mind as you find them and socialise in groups you want to and are comfortable in. There is a minority problem within the Muslim community with hating western life or being isolated away from westerners but it doesn't tend to directly affect you.

Anyone who has been subject to a education that stresses the scientific method and reason and taken note of it and yet truly 'believes' in the authenticity of their religion.....well, I think they are willing to ignore a lot of rational thought to pursue an emotional need.

I don't necessarily think it's a comment on how nice a person is.

Religion is poison. It gives people mental illness. And it frequently makes them behave abominably.

and look at all the fringe areas on the Planet where groups of different religions collide ?

Israel/palestine
india/pakistan
Northern ireland
turkey/Greece
cyprus
Coptic Egypt
Former Yugoslavia
Rochdale/Rotherham
chechnya
syria
