I've been supporting Palace since 1952 so there's a lot to choose from!

My most disappointing defeat was the 1976 FA Cup semi-final defeat at Stamford Bridge. Seeing Palace in the Cup Final at Wembley was my childhood dream and getting so close and realising it was likely to be many years before the chance came round again made for a sad and gloomy journey back home from the game.

After todays lift I thought Id post on this thread as its not right to feel happy on a Saturday night. Your right the 76 semi was a body blow alright , we were riding along on the crest of the Big Mal wave ,had the best player in the country never mind the third division in Taylor and nothing could stop us . Accept of course Mel bloody Blyth who crocked Taylor early doors and our race was run .
There that's better its all coming back to me the dodgy penalty ,Mick Channon ,the depression has set in ,normal service is resumed .

And we still need a striker

I left that out; as came out of the ground & rang home to say was going for a drink with two mates,They were emigrating to Tawian; to teach English, and got told my Nan had died. Wound in a pub near Victoria station & we got started on by some Chelski mugs. Managed to not get slapped senseless.Bad day all round

Mel Blyth is a Palace legend. the player who crocked Taylor in the 76 semi final was Peter Rodriguez

Leicester City in 1996

Worst moment in my life. Bloody Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage controlled us that day, but nonetheless we were only 12 minutes away. Even then I had 100% faith in Nigel Martyn to win a penalty shootout, compared to their crappy Zeljko 'Future AC Milan' Kalac. Then the Claridge incident happened.

Heard Savage the other day saying when he left Crewe one of the offers was from us. One of those tweaks in history that could have made the difference if we'd gone up in '96 rather than '97. No Hopkins final, no Lombardo, Brolin etc. Maybe we'd have avoided bankruptcy...

Southampton, May 05, 2-2. Ok, not a loss but the worst I've felt walking away from Selhurst in my nearly 50 years supporting the red'n'blue.

Yes that injury time equaliser was enough to send us both down

I had to go to my dads birthday party straight from the game with my saints supporting wife. We were both in foul moods and knew both clubs were down. That is the worst i've felt coming out of Selhurst.

I done a thread earlier about tonight being one of the hardest to take of my life. Now I致e calmed down, because we don稚 know
What the impact of it is going to be, I知 not sure it is,it could be but hopefully not. I知 going to list my top 5 hardest to take defeats of my 29 year old life. I知 going to give you a bit of background first. I知 a die hard fan. Like you all. But I知 obsessed. I was worse when I was younger. I would watch the teletext from the age of 4 waiting for the score to change to e.g, c palace 1-0 port vale. I would do this every week, just watch, Tuesday nights aswell if I was lucky. Then cam Gillette soccer special. Fantastic. Doing this from an early age I believe helped that I now have a photographic memory. At the age of 4 I could speak every result from the days football, Scottish leagues premier league and al the way down to the conference.
Anyway, sorry to babble on, but this was obviously a skill ( the memory) but along with became a obsession. With palace. If we lost, I was evil, it would effect me so badly. It still does, but I can control it better. I remember once, we didn稚 even lose, the game for postponed (v Luton) I went to my room with a knife and calves lines all through the wallpaper. You can imagine what I was like if we lost!!!

I知 going to give you a few results in my life that effected me really badly, I知 not going to include tonight..... yet...

In order- palace 2-2 Southampton 2005. Nikolai Ventola scores to make it 2-1 in the 89th/90th minute. The crowd is still celebrating when Danny Higginbotham goes and equalises down the other end. I sat in the isle in the Arthur wait crying. Hope was not lost, all we had to do was beat chsrlton next week....

Palace 1-2 Man Utd fa cup final. Puncheon scores with 12 mins left, we all know what happens next

Leicester 2-1 palace play off final, should clarifies goal really have been allowed? Coaches and management were still in the pitch,

Palace 2-3 Nottingham forest, year 2000!!! Bit of a meaningless game in the grand scheme of things but this got me!! We were 3-0 and battled back to 3-2. We get a last minute penalty, Julian gray scores, or has he?? Penalty ordered to be re taken and the rest is history!! He misses!! One of the most frustrating and horrific
Moments I have witnessed.

Hope you enjoyed that, made me feel better about tonight.

COYP

Germany euro 96

Fair point though, add to that Bournemouth at home, the sort draws that feel like defeats till the dust settles!! Just think those extra 4 points could have us nearly safe!!
