Exactly. A bit of common sense please! It's tantamount to "tourist gets mugged in Brazilian Favela" Honestly cant believe the paper paid this berk for his story.

First in Liverpool Echo and then the daily mirror. Both big in Liverpool. There's also the arrogance of how big the club is.

I don't in any way condone violence at football matches, far from it but you stand in the home end and cheer when your team scores as an away fan and then manage to sell your tale of woe. the bloke is lucky he didn't get battered and likely would have if he'd done it anywhere other than Arsenal. the biggest surprise is that a national paper actually ran with this non story.

That's priceless!
"All I did was let out a little cheer" - given he's playing up his side of the story I'll read that as "jump up and down a lot", and whaddya know, the home fans didn't like it. Hope he get's a reply from Arsenal, and I hope it reads "f**k off, you plum"

Always the victims

He's in the wrong end so can be ejected if the stewards wish.

Yup, the stewards said the only reason they let him stay was because it's Christmas, and he thinks that's terrible. How about the notices all over the ground, the tickets, etc making it clear this is a home section. IMO they should have thrown the silly f***er out on his @rse!

I've done the home end at both Chelsea, and Arsenal (through necessity) but you show some respect and you'll be fine (even if they twig you're not a home fan)

Where I sit in the AW, most of the seats are for Season ticket holders except the seats to my left and behind me which change every game.

Have been amazed this year regarding how many tourists have taken these seats. I always make a point of speaking to them and finding out who they are there to watch and if they do support Palace then why.

This season I had a family from Norway, the dad has supported us since 1972 and watches every game at home on TV although it was the first time he had seen us live since 1980!

Then we had a father and his young son who flew over from Israel! Again the dad was a big Palace fan and had gone to the cup final.

A few weeks ago there was a big group of Dutch guys and then last week 3 really nice Swedish lads. One was a Palace fan again taking in his second game.

Talking to these guys makes me feel very proud that people make such an effort to come and watch us, particularly when my 16 year old son normally moans about the 15 minute car journey lol.

However, I do have to agree with other sentiments. When the tourists are just there to see the opposition then it really p@sses me off. Particularly when its a sell-out and is stopping a Palace fan from attending.

At the Man U game there was a group of about 8 Chinese - all with their faces painted and wearing the same black cap. At one stage they even unfurled some kind of banner.

Not sure if Man U fans but were not our fans. After Man U scored their second one stood in the aisle and started taking group pictures with them all smiling away. Completely oblivious to how all the surrounding fans would have been feeling.

Love the fact that our fan base is growing, however football is a roller coaster and I just hope they will all be here when the dark times return.

Couldn't agree more. The wally sits there in a football shirt claiming to be a football fan but doesn't understand how it works in a football stadium.

We had Nordic and Scandinavian fans coming to Selhurst in groups of 2-6 plus in the championship. They love the English league and stay loyal to a team. All good.

Dear oh dear. I'd have to move my season ticket andbif I couldn't, stay at home and watch via my paid for stream on the laptop in HD.

On tv you have often see Japanese in the kop, taking photos with Liverpool fans enjoying the experience, although they've probably travelled up on a supporters coach from the south having bought the ticket from the same agency. Thankfully our noisy parts stay noisy, passionate support apart from bad spells.

...just gonna weigh in here with a different perspective.
I guess I am what is considered a tourist, having moved from Mitcham Road to Canada late 1974. When I now walk towards Selhurst Park from the train station, I even feel like a tourist, because Thornton Heath high street is not the same place it was 35 odd years ago.
My point though, it is a different world today. I’ll try not sound too cliche, but it has become a much smaller world.
When I first moved to Canada, there was no internet, it took 4 days for the Sunday papers to reach Canada so I could read the Palace write up. I used to listen to a BBC world service radio to listen to the odd live match. When I flew back for the 1976 FA Cup semi it was a bloody big deal taking much preparation, and that would be the last time I saw Palace live for another 6 or 7 years.
Fast forward to 2018, I still live in Canada but I now share season tickets with some lovely blokes, and was slated for 14 home matches this season alone - make that 15 with the Brighton ticket
I just bought on Tuesday with my International Membership.
My point is, everything is so much more accessible these days. I never thought I’d see so many asians at football matches (not a prejudicial statement, just a casual observation and one that I have grown to accept). It is a global economy, and it is now just plain easy to fly half way around the world just to come watch a football match.
I don’t condone Man Utd fans in the home end, and I absolutely hate people hogging aisles and taking selfies, but please don’t write off all of us, “tourist” Palace fans, because some of us do eat, sleep, breathe this football club, and we’re here for the right reasons.
....oh, we will still be here on that calamitous day that we might ever get relegated to the Championship

Carrick you should go support West Ham you sound just like a bunch of them.

Any fans are better then none and having tourists is good for the club

That's a bit of a bizarre comment. To me it's quite a relief to see BME people at matches, it bodes well for the future in so many ways.
