Russia: the land of rebel politician death and imprisonment.

Russian ex spy murdered a few years back.....Police have arrest warrant for Russian....Russia refuses to bring him back.

Russian ex spy very nearly murdered......Oh....it's the British or anyone other than the Russians.

Having freedom is a wonderful thing in this country....but it doesn't always translate into cogent observation.

It's highly likely that Russia did this.

You could easily replace ''Russia'' with ''Britain''.

Yes I thought that as well.....

Why is Skripal, a convicted traitor to his country and a double agent, seemingly having a pleasant retirement in the UK ???????

He may well still be active, likewise Litvenko who nobody will tell us what he was actually doing here, a Russian agent.

Putin, do us a favour, eliminate them so they don't come here, far from being the gulag and death Skripal has prospered by shopping 300 agents and laughing at the Russian legal system.

The big problem for us here is not poisoning of Russian agents but poisoning our relations with Russia in particular its citizens who must be hating the UK.

I agree, but that's not to say there are not some justifiable questions on the circumstances surrounding it - parts of the story simply do not add up at this stage.

I don't think pointing that out is incorrect.

Oddly enough I am beginning to sway more towards Corbyn, it is beginning to look like Blair and WMDs.

Perhaps, Russians but not "Government" Russians, the same people listening to Boris the Buffon were the saying corrupt Russia would sell nuclear material, chemical weapons etc. to terrorists...then the next moment it could only be Putin.

Right wing Megalomaniac yes, but inept no.

Reluctantly, Peffers, I'm forced to see your point of view. Corbyn's response to Salisbury and Douma has been of the "let's not hastily come to conclusions" variety. With the truth of both yet to spin out, I think that's a reasonable position to take.

F*ck, I feel dirty now.

I concur, asking questions is always legitimate. Discussion and debate are healthy.

Good news that the daughter is now well enough to be released from hospital.

Would, by the way.

I can see a circumstance where rogue elements not under Putin's control did this. However Putin hasn't offered up any suspects apart from the British and has flatly denied that the weapon came from Russia. So if they are innocent he's not doing himself any favours.

One more point

IMO Putin has far more important fish to fry, not least Syria.

He would quietly drop the whole thing, it is only the UK.

The thread wouldn't be complete without such an opinion offered. It'd have been rude not to.

Why what do you think happened.

Well I can rule out Corbyn's 'mafia' suggestion on the grounds of means and motive.

That leaves the UK and Russia. As you, Corbyn, and anyone blindly endorsing his statements seem reluctant to blame the latter, please provide your evidence for accusing the former.

State support as in Ukrainian rebels is for all intents and purposes The Kremlim.

Corbyn is I think, by nature, distrustful of the British state and its establishments.

It's kind of comical in a sense that he wants to lead them. Then again, Trump is similar to Corbyn in that he also distrusts many leading the US institutions.

The difference is one's a nationalist and the other is a Marxist.
