No GrandMaster would make this move so why would Russia do this at this particular time?

We'll soon see more international trades in the petro-yuan (the Chinese currency) replacing the US petro-dollar. Others that have tried to escape from the rancid burden of the US petro-dollar for many years now include Iraq, Iran, Syria and Libya.

To nick a quote from a previous post.........''coincidence''?

The obvious answer would be elections.

While to is always wise to remain sceptical where the news is concerned, unfortunately the problem with the vast majority of conspiracy theories is that they can never be disproved

I think Moe from the Simpsons knew how to deal with conspiracy theories: 'Immigants! I knew it was them! Even when it was the bears, I knew it was them.'

The Russians have referred to the UK as a weak country and also issued a thinly vailed threat by reminding us that we are dealing with a nuclear super power.
The UK is also a nuclear power and in fact is economically a bigger economy than Russia.

However we appear weak to Russia simply because the only measure of a country they appreciate and respect is military clout.

In response the government should be announcing that with immediate efffect all planned/proposed military cuts are cancelled and that it response to the perceived threat military expenditure is to be increased.

Realise this would be unpopular with the treasury as well as those
who believe that such expenditure is a waste. However sometimes bullies need to be faced down and this would be a message the Kremlin, in view of their ‘Might is Right’ attitude, will understand.

(I feel better for getting that off my chest)

Wow a bit of "28 July 1914" enthusiasm for war. The propaganda merchants don't have to push to hard against your door...two words Dodgy Dossier.

Lets just see if its the Russian state or the Russian Mafia.

I prefer Corbyn's measured approach to the parliament hysteria it has a track record of marching into strife and being completely wrong.

We need details, suspects, arrests, evidence of a link, when we have these that is the time for protest to Russia.

That will take far too long and by that time the public will have become bored of it and moved on.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I don't know if you know how these things work....but details of investigations aren't public knowledge for rather obvious reasons.

If the government says agency A is responsible, you either believe them or don't believe them.

You are a Labour supporter, so you don't believe them. Corbyn and his anti British collection of morons have supported just about every single anti UK group, terrorist or not out there that I can think of. Adding Russia to the list surprised no one.

As for me.....Russian nerve agent used to kill former Russian agent.....it's not exactly taxing on the brain cells.

I'm struggling to think of an advantage in framing Russia.

Obviuosly ordered from Buenos Aires.

Not sure why frame Russia, but for Putin, he has spiced up a lacklustre election at home, and looks like the hard man the average Russian punter seems to like as a leader, as well as the retribution stated in other posts.

Of course you do.

Fact is that this sort of stuff has happened many times before and will do again. It's all part of the game of spies that has been going on for decades. It gets blown out of proportion by modern media but expelling diplomats is very predictable and about the only public thing little old Britain can do.
One can only presume that Russia are sending us a message by killing this man in such a dangerous way and putting British citizens at risk and we have seen that there seems to be little subtlety from the current regime.
What Jeremy Corbyn thinks is of no consequence.

On a slightly more serious note, didn't one of the accused for Litvinenko murder get into the country under the guise of a CSKA fan when they played Arsenal?

I don't remember that but I do know that we got the German police to arrest a CSKA fan, who put an England fan in a coma at Euro2016, when he was en route to Lyon for the last round. So there probably would've been trouble even prior to this.

They should all disembark from the plane to Moscow with gas masks on.

Seems he did, went to the game after carrying it out.

The last encounter between Arsenal and CSKA - a Champions League group stage game in 2006 - was attended by the man suspected of the murder of former KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko.

An inquiry into the poisoning of Litvinenko with polonium-210 revealed that the men met hours before the match at the Emirates and that traces of the radioactive substance were discovered at the ground.
