We're not at the end yet, but after around 30 matches, we can give an opinion about how well the players performed.

I think it's correct if we use 5 sub-divisions to describe a players's performance: Very good, Good, Mediocre, Sub-mediocre (Poor) and Very Poor. Rating the players from 1 to 10 would be harder and much more subjective. Therefore, my humble opinion is:

Very good for the Premier League: ZAHA, TOWNSEND (2 goals, 6 assists, 3rd in terms of assists in the PL outside of top 6 teams)

Good: TOMKINS (you easily see mistakes at central defenders, but overall he has had a good season), RLC, MCARTHUR (both these last 2 players did the best they good in positions they were not really accustomed to, they're practicaly central midfielders who were playerd on the wing or as attacking ones), SAKO (the forward), VAN AANHOLT (both good things and some problems in defending), SCHLUPP (quick thinking last game, but not consistent throughout the season)

Mediocre: WARD, SAKHO (you can only describe his performance like this in a season in which he was out this long and considering what was expected of him), CABAYE, MILIVOJEVIC (some good performances, but also penalty misses and somewhat guilty at United's 3rd goal and at others too with slow movement).

Sub-mediocre (Poor): Hennessey, Benteke (a better game this last one, but won't make up for the season)

Very poor: Lee Chung Yeong (guilty at a goal when he came on, hardly did manage to get himself on, probably doesn't impress in training), Jordon Mutch (didn't even count).

If I didn't name some players, they're probably in the "Mediocre" tier. I've tried to name the ones who have played the most. Wan-Bissaka would obviously be in the "Good" tier, but he's only played 2 matches, so it's too early to say, let's just be patient.

I wouldn't rate Benteke as low as LCY or Mutch tier, but he's definitely been below that invisible mediocrity line which separates slightly good performances from mostly poor ones. Just 2 goals, Has a few assists too. But, God, he's had a lot of playing time!! Even my grandma would have given a few assists if the ball had hit her in all that playing time.

I know I'm being subjective, but I would say that you can't name those many players "very good" and "good" in a team that's third from bottom, scored 27 in 29 games and conceded 46. I think that the above is an objective assessement. What do you think?

Luka mediocre for the season???

Well everyone's entitled to an opinion but I don't agree with that

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I don't think many will. I would go so far as to say many will probably have him as their POTY. He's also our leading goal scorer!

Most players have been a bit inconsistent. For example, Kelly and TFM have both had MOTM displays, but also ones to forget, the same for Schlupp and PvA. Tomkins has had a much better season than last, helped no doubt by him staying fit for longer.

I think Townsend has had a few very good games, but I think overall his season has been somewhat underwhelming in my opinion, despite the stats. Even Zaha has had a few games where he's been anonymous, although he has probably been our standout player (when fit). McArthur has gone about his business in his usual industrious fashion and I would say he has had a good season. Cabaye has had some good games, but his age seems to be impacting on his performances and his set-pieces have been pretty poor this season.

Despite supporting him Bentenke has had a poor season by his standards and Hennessey has shown that he is not PL quality, albeit I have started to feel a bit sorry for him as he gets blamed even when it's not his fault.

Overall we have had too much chopping and changing with injuries which seems to have hindered individual performances and only the organisation of Hodgson has prevented us capitulating.

It's a great shame that Bakary Sako didn't stay fit as he could have ended the season as both POTY and leading goalscorer

You'd notice him not in the team.

Remember KG?

Based on his young age, playing out of position. Didn't score much but gave a few assists. I don't know if others expected much (especially with his national team call-up and the high esteem he was held in), but I didn't expect much at all, he had looked nothing special in Chelsea or in the youth championship. He may be a decent central midfielder playmaker, but he did ok being played as left or right midfielder all the fall period.

Milivojevic, as some have pointed out, is a good player, but considering his recent mistakes (like the one against Man united), his penalty miss and the fact that he has taken free kicks and set pieces without much results all season shown an average season. He is top scorer, but only because he takes the penalties (which he didn't always score). Could have benefited from being faster too.
