May be famous last words, but looking at remaining fixtures for bottom nine (many playing each other as well as top six clubs) I just don't see us going down. WBA and Stoke look gonners, and Southampton seem strong favs to join them. I reckon we could end up level with weed on 39 (assuming we beat them at Selhurst), which this year will be comfortably enough to stay up.

Some say he was quiet yesterday but he is definitely the talisman, a huge outlet for the team to relieve pressure/put us on the front foot as Roy said in his post match press conference.

Yes, options we don't have when he doesn't play.

Yep. The betting markets agree and I think most knew that a win yesterday was going to be huge for us. Not only was it a win but apart from Sakho's misplaced pass we were in control, or they didn't threaten at least. And we look like we have another gear as well.

One downside was the only time I looked at my phone with the in-play odds on to place a bet I saw 0-1 come up and then us us win a corner. Would've liked the surprise.

Flying over for the Leicester game, and we will be safe either that game of before.

And for you all who want to finish above Brighton, that's also a cert. Just look at their run in.

I pointed out on another thread the psychological boost being out of he relegation zone will be, especially as the result against Liverpool cannot push us back down there as Stam play Saints.

Sorry, don't want to sound pessimistic but a 1-0 win for the Saints, and us getting beaten by 5+ will see us back in the drop zone.
I think we will have enough to survive, especially after looking at everyone else's run in, but still got everything crossed!

Agreed, Brighton could easily lose their last 5 games.

Brighton also have a postponed game against Man City to be rearranged, but it rather depends on how they get on against Leicester and Huddersfield at home and us away. It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that they could be home and hosed before that final run in.

Huddersfield and Brighton have awful run-ins. Huddersfield effectively have 3 games to pick up all of the points that they need to survive otherwise they are relying on points against the top six and Everton. Whoever loses in the game between Huddersfield and Brighton may be in trouble - I will settle for a Brighton win, and us finishing behind Brighton to ensure that we finish ahead of Huddersfield.

I get the feeling that either Southampton or Stoke will put a run together.

Thanks to eagle180 for an informative post. I too am optimistic. I do think Liverpool could be a greater risk to our relatively OK goal difference than any other game so far, yet still feel we may repeat our recent history of success against those lovable Scousers.
