If his image rights are part of the screw up and he's taken pay that is image right related, then that pay is liable for tax and NI.

Possibly not if he was paid for image rights as a result of his image in France and he didn't remit any of the money to the UK. The deal would not necessarily have been with CPFC. And by the way, he wouldn't necessarily be paying full UK NIC. It depends where his centre of vital interests lies. Probably he is settled in the UK though.

If, and I can't believe they were so incompetent on a simple issue,CPFC have screwed up in their handling his salary and payments with correct deductions then the back office needs a review and change. Let's hope it's not the case Edited by HKOwen (09 Apr 2018 12.14am)
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

In which case he was receiving PAYE income believing tax and ni had been deducted. the S80 notice would be sent to the employer. HMRC lost a case on transfer to individual about 2 1/2 years ago, so is likely more to this.
