Not with a lot of posters on here, and yes, they tend to come from our lefty brothers.

Society has been this way for a long time, the more complicated a situation is, the more we rely on simplistic soundbites to make sense of it. I have a feeling its always been that way. Dont confuse it with just one side though, all sides do it, they always have and they always will. Its not all bad though, its meant that people have been forced to distill their point into something tangible rather than the medias old school approach of padding out points into psuedo-interlectual w@nk.

Says me that basicly turned 'everyone does it, not just the left...' into a full essay! My bad...

Thought exactly the same thing: if this is the person people look up to and hail as a heroic patriot, I'll probably look elsewhere thanks.

Birds of feather flock together.

All true of course.

As an aside I saw a very interesting graph the other day showing how social media has affected politics in the US....and by extension the UK I suppose.

It's kind of evidence for social media controlling echo chambers and hence reinforcing belief systems.....much more effectively than was true before its rise.

Thats really annoying, I saw the chart and it looks like it could have been really interesting, but it doesnt have any axis, legend or scales! Without it its just a pretty diagram! Shame as well because it looked like it might illustrate something...if I get time later I will check the source and see if we can get something clearer...

You don't understand what blue and red represent?

Each illustration has the year of how the house voted and how much 'crossing the isle' went on.

It's pretty obvious what the point is.

No confusion. I think I got a grasp on human nature.
There's ignorance abound on both sides.

I didn't write an essay about it. True that. Says me.

Didnt say I didnt understand it, but without the legend we have to 'reckon' we know what it is. Thats dangerous, its important to know exactly what we are looking at. Im not sure why the person who made this left out the legend or scales, 'fake news' is bad but 'incomplete news' is dangerous...
In this particular case it doesnt look like foul play but I never believe anything I cant verify...

The legend is democrat and republican.

Sure, research it.

Truth is whether you like it or not, I have lived in the same world you have, seen the same news you have and been exposed to all that is great and crap in the world just like you and have cone to a different conclusion, you can dismiss the other side as 'well clearly you are not paying attention' but thats the mindset that will just make people double down on their beliefs...

Tony Robinson did speak at Oxford but so did Geofry from game of thrones! Oxford prides itself in allowing everyone to cone in and make their point, unfortunatly that is something becoming more and more rare...but the point is that him being there doesnt give him any more or less credibility.

As for him talking, unfortunatly I have, and he is dreadful. He has one point with any credibility and thats 'muslim rape gangs' so all he does is tries to bring that up over and over again, he doesnt have any other points to make. And the problem is that all his supoorters do the same thing, I can guarentee that I wont have to look very far on this thread to find someone who will change any subject so they can bring up 'muslim rape gangs' again.
Ultimatly he has one point that he makes clumsily and very little else and if thats all people bring up then its actually damaging your cause by getting behing him...have to stress that this is just my opinion, I am a spokesman on behalf of me and nobody else...

How do you know your conclusion is right and visa versa. For people on the right the TR issue is based on facts like issues of grooming gangs. What facts is your conclusion based on?

Snobs? Nah mate, this isnt an 'upper or lower class' thing, its literally finding a voice that can reason with the other side, im a full bloodied leftie (and very much lower class btw!) and to stop me, someone on the right needs to convince me that my point of view is wrong. There are people on the right, people who are anti eu and flat out racists that can argue their case so well that it genuinly sends you away thinking about your own point of view. Those are the people you should get behind, not some clickbait tw@t who chases people around police stations...

"Snobbery" doesn't have a class.
Working class snob, middle class snob, and upper all participate in this kind of behaviour.

However, lower class, has got me thinking.

I covered this a little further on from this post, I said I agree that grooming gangs in communities needs to be stamped out.
Ive just realised as I was writing this that TR was saying that police need to investigate this when at a court case where the police clearly investigated it, rounded everyone up involved and were in court, surely it proves that the police are taking action? Surely thats the one situation where TR wasnt needed?

Anyway, my point was that TR is a terrible ambassador for your cause so you should distance yourself from him. Gerry Adams is a leftie like me but I certainly wouldnt be stupid enough to quote him to support any arguement I was trying to make because most people would assume im wrong because Gerry Adams is a d1ck.

And in terms of using facts, both sides think they are using 'facts' to argue their case. Both sides normally twist facts to support their case so claiming 'your side uses facts' is normally a bit of a waste...
