Like others my only complaint is his lack of using substitutes. Forget whether we need fresh legs or not - they are often used to slow a game down , break up play, run time down and so on. The most obvious case recently was against Man Utd - just a very few minutes left and we still had two subs. Send them on, take your time doing it, stop Man Utd for a bit. Instead he did nothing and they continued to pressure us and scored. I have no idea why he doesn't do it but I think he is making a serious mistake with this lack of tactic!

As I have posted though don't you think breaking up play could harm us more than the opposition ? You are not going to break up a side that is defending well for the sake of it and it is hard for late subs to get in the same mental zone as a player that has been doing his job for 90 mins . We were actually very unfortunate to let in the late goal against Utd . And we still need a striker

Given our continuous ability to let in late goals, the "mental zone" you speak of is by that time in the game quite fatigued, hence the need for subs.

Its a possibility if your getting the run around but Ive seen no evidence that that has been the case . Spurs winner was down to the late sub ,Damo , not as I have said getting with it and the Man U winner an effort from range , hardly signs of fatigue .
We havnt exactly been chasing games of late which if were the case would agree that subs are needed .

Being down the wrong end of the table maybe makes us fall too deep towards the end of games .That is in my view our problem ,not making substitutions

And we still need a striker

We fall deep because we are done, physically and mentally. Still, top coaches across the world of football must be mistaken when protecting a lead to make timely late substitutions don't you think?

We should have changed players in several games late on, sometimes just to disrupt the play, sometimes to change then pattern of plat from us. I believe that when you are leading in the last 15 mins perhaps there is a tendency to 'Let sleeping dogs lie' unless of course certain players are visibly flagging.

Hodgson will have had good reasons not to have brought on the players listed - he did bring on a player against Tottenham and he was culpable in relation to the late goal they scored at a corner so substitutes don't always work !

The late sub was Delaney: Tompkins was injured & Hennessey missed the catch, like the one before. We should have changed players in several games late on, sometimes just to disrupt the play, sometimes to change then pattern of plat from us. We have young players good enough to be given a go at least, which was our tradition & one Imam sorry to see going: my only issue with Roy is the subs/youngsters.

I see that Barcelona's manager Valverde has been severely rebuked for not making any substitutions until the 80th minute against Roma last night, including comments that it looks as though he doesn't trust his bench.His inaction last night has not been well received. I see that Barcelona's manager Valverde has been severely rebuked for not making any substitutions until the 80th minute against Roma last night, including comments that it looks as though he doesn't trust his bench.His inaction last night has not been well received.
