English ref embarrasses us in Europe ! ridiculous decision and sends off Bufoon as well! Hope he never refs in Europe again !

Buffon would probably have saved the penalty. I don't know what he said but you don't generally get a straight red for dissent. It was an accidental collision after the ball had gone. Penalty my arse. Oh and dished out quite a few ludicrous yellow cards. An embarrassment to English football and a disgrace. Edited by chateauferret (11 Apr 2018 9.57pm)

Regardless of the dodgy pen he was inconsistent all night, booking juve players yet not booking real players for identical challenges. Also if he thinks it's a fault surely Benatia had to go

Ronaldo had headed it back across goal to Vazquez who goes to control the ball on his chest as he gets shoved in the back. Clear penalty, glad Oliver had the balls to give it. As to the sending off, we dont know what was said, but Buffon did get a little physical with Oliver, maybe a combination of words and actions, i am sure its all in his report. What is interesting is that you all second guess the whole thing and put Oliver down despite not having any of the facts.

Obviously not many comments from referees so far !! Penalty was definitely correct...and even if the occasion got too much for Buffon he cannot get threatening in any refs face Sad for the game, and a career to end like that, but as we have to our cost found out lately the game and concentration needs to last for 90+ minutes.

this does again bring up the whole questions about how soft football has become and unless the rules are laid out very clearly on global scale we will continue to see human error/opinion on how they see the rule being applied

I noted recently comments by Dermot Gallagher and Graham Poll and there were differing opinions about a penalty award.Gallagher said on TV he can discuss incidents with colleagues and they can have different viewpoints about incidents.And this probably watching incidents a few times on "Slow-Mo" etc etc. Edited by Willo (12 Apr 2018 8.16am)
