So what does everyone make of Wilf 'allegedly' turning down an increase in his wages?! Did he or didn't he?!

It seems all these articles use that as the basis for their argument.

Put the question the other way round. Why would Wilf extend his contract?

Yes he would have got more money but he would also have been contracted for a longer period and it may have included clauses about potential future interest that his advisors didn't like.

He am sure wants to test himself at highest level at some time but by extending contract and taking more money he would have made the list of any potential suitors shorter.

A new contract would probably have been 5 years and have taken him to 30. Will potential clubs want him at 30?

Reading between the lines I think he has decided to stay and see how it goes. If he plays like last season his value will increase and if and when Palace receive an offer they find acceptable he will have to make a decision. Until that time its all press speculation to fill column inches

Would Zaha really want to miss out on a season that could see Palace get their first European opportunity? He's been with the club so long that I'm sure he wants to be part of that and a very big part it would be. He would be making history. The big clubs will always come calling but a season potentially making history at the club where he grew up will be very tempting I think.

Wilf was tight with RLC last season.

RLC made the England squad and still can't get a game at Chelsea. Wilf surely won't fancy another Man U experience. They are not in the Champions League either.

On sky transfer page its still putting Wilf to Spurs as a headline whisper. Its all paper speculation.

He can stay here, be a hero, play every week, earn good money with a team hopefully improving around him.

Can't see this happening, not Chelsea anyway.

He's no longer in the top 10 whispers according to the lunch time update.

This is all rubbish with him leaving, journalists are bored and have little to write so just recycling old stories to keep their bosses happy.

I don't want the fan the flames but this was published 14 hours ago in the USA on a site called Bleacher Report. They trot out the same tired nonsense about both Wilf and Max as if it were gospel. They don't even want to admit that the Mirror keeps wanting to transfer our roster and Nursey os Midlands based and the Mail story got shot down almost as soon as it was published. They even quote Mr. Administration himself, our former chairman who took a loan from a legalised loanshark and didn't even make the first payment. The only reason why I even saw this was I'm forced to have the Google Play Nees Stand app on my Android.

The following is the response I posted in their comments section. I should have added I really don't appreciate waking up to this drivel.
How many ways can I blow this "story" up? Let's start with the source "newspaper," The Mirror. They have transferred over half the players on the Palace roster over the uears. None of their stories have been true. NONE!. Then there is the writer, Mr. Nursey. He is based in the Midlands. Not London. Since when is either Crystal Palace or Chelsea a Midlands club. The only thing remotely Midlands about Palace is that when they were founded in 1905 Aston Villa helped them get started in the Southern League Division 2. Then there is the totally discredited Daily Mail story about Max Meyer being on 179 K a week. Try 70! That's the accurate figure.

This entire story is completely bogus and totally disrespectful to Crystal Palace FC. We have been in the Premier League since 2013-14, we have risen from the ashes of a second bankruptcy (administration) caused by an ex-chairman you quote as a font of all wisdom and you merely repeat unsubtantiated rumour that has been since discredited. This is why I don't subscribe to your website and only came about this "story" due to my being forced to have Google Play Newstand on my Android "smart" phone. I wish I could delete both the app and you.

TBF, I'm sure he'd rather play in the Champions League over the UEFA ...

in the morning they will say Wilf wants to leave - click click click and the money rolls in - then two hours later they will have an exclusive - Wilf wants to stay! - click click click - then repeat every 24 hours until transfer deadline day

the transfer window closing 3 weeks early must reduce their revenue considerably

Firstly, he probably won't get much game time at all in the CL games being part of a top 4 squad. Secondly, it's not a matter of playing in the EL, it's getting Palace to qualify that would be amazing for him and the club based on his long history at the club.

Do you know what, I am not so sure.

Would he rather sit on the bench for a Champions League side, or be the main man in his local team’s first European adventure.

Rather getting ahead of ourselves anyway.

Exactly. However, I don't think it's 'getting ahead' of ourselves at all. Remove the anomaly of the first 7 games last season and we would have been very close last season - and that was with a massive injury list and without Meyer, Kouyate and any other signings we will make in the next few days. Also remember, we will more than likely have Zaha fit for the first 7 games this season.
