Chelsea would be better off spending their money on their defence, but personally I think Wilf would thrive off the service he would get from Jorghino and the like. Of the teams where I think he could make the biggest impact I would say Man Utd, as they look very ordinary at the moment and are playing a far more counter attacking game. Would he go back there? If they came in for him I wouldn't rule it out. James on the right and Wilf on the left would be a serious threat. Spurs could also do with some freshening up, but I'm not so sure he would fit in there.

This season we are playing so deep that it is easy for teams to nullify Wilf's threat and he is cutting a frustrated figure.

I’m not sure as to why but yes you’re absolutely right.

He doesn’t make the runs a winger should and is generally stood still when he receives the ball these days. Time and time again he slows the game down and breaks a fast flowing move up. People mention Wilf often has two (plus) players marking him but this is usually only after he has put the brakes on and let them get round him.

He has definitely lost a noticeable amount of pace and is not winning the sprints (with or without the ball) that he used to. I believe this is another factor affecting his confidence in taking people on.

Yes he still has ALL the tricks and is a very good player but for all the negative nonsense we’ve had to endure in recent transfer windows and for the negative impact it’s bound to be having on the team/squad then we are now better off rid of him. I said this in the last transfer window and for all the good he’s done us this season we would’ve been better off with the money from Everton and a couple of new signings and the sulking disruptive cry baby that he is, gone!

Have to agree 100%. He often slows the game down, has no anticipation - both going forward and defensively - and for a forward player has no awareness of where to position himself in the box when we attack (hence his poor goalscoring). He doesn't seem to have matured as a player and his current sulking whilst on £130k a week is just not acceptable

I have been disappointed and even annoyed with Zaha’s performances this season.
Then I noticed the news that he had played 300 games for us.
I thought back how he dragged us to promotion with his performances in the Championship season, notably in the play offs against Brighton and Watford.
I also think about how he has been instrumental to our staying up and having our longest run in the top division.
If he never had another good game for the club nobody can deny he has been a great player for us and to play 300 games for one club is rare these days and a real achievement.
I’m not sure why he has not caught fire this season but believe it’s partly attributable to the fact opposition know that if you stop Zaha you stop Palace.
We are overly reliant on him and this is unhealthy.

It's not like Zaha would get sulky when he doesn't get his own way is it?

One thing's for certain - no Prem club is going to pay £80m for him. I think Parish may regret not accepting the £50m Everton offer.

Unless he's been tapped up and is playing below his level so that we accept a low-ball bid, Wilf is currently playing in a way that will see him play his prime years at Selhurst.

I can't see a 40m+ bid for him in January based on a continuation of his current form. So he'll have to stay.

I agree completely. Id put my house on it that Chelsea wouldn't touch him. They have about 5 winger who are already a lot better than Wilf. If he leaves Palace it will be to a club like Everton because they have history of signings duds.

He has not been as dynamic as in previous seasons and been a tad passive.

Rather than really running at the opposition he has been laying the ball off now and releasing it earlier and perhaps this has been the instruction from Hodgson and his coaching staff.

Rather than run into blind alleys surrounded by a host of players and being dispossessed perhaps our players have been told to utilise the space vacated by opposition players who have doubled or trebled up on Zaha so that Zaha can find them with a pass.Just speculation.

laying the ball off in tight situations is more of a big club approach and one that prioritises ball retention. Wilf's passing has substantially improved in the past 18 months, but a little of his Wilfiness had gone

He is playing in a team where there is little attacking intent and where he gets few opportunities to prove himself.
In a better team he would flourish and I feel we should have taken the money in the summer - we have gambled and lost!

He made his England debut in the same game as Sterling - look at how they compare now.
