I am sure nobody has forgotten but there will be a meeting to celebrate Alan years of supporting Crystal Palace F.C. at the Holmesdale / Whitehorse Pub before and after the WBA game on Sunday.

Alan's final game was the 3-2 win over Brighton at Selhurst, so we know he passed a happy man proud that his beloved team had secured another year in the Premiership.

Alan would like to have bought all his mates from the HOL meets one last drink , so on Sunday he will , your first drink will be on Alan just to get the party started and those that knew him know how much he loved a party.
This is being facilitated by Alan's excellent management of my ST which he enjoyed doing as it allowed other Palace fans to enjoy games they would not otherwise not get to see. We liked to share the fund to have a end of season party so want to make it no different this time , get there early to avoid disappointment , then bring cash

So hope to see a load of Alan's mates there on Sunday to celebrate one of Crystal Palace's finest.

He was one of our own.

I can't make WBA. Is there any chance you can send me a cheque ?
Hope it goes well.

I still cannot believe that my best mate Alan is no longer with us.

I first met Alan in the school playground when we were both 12. He asked me who I supported and I said you’ll laugh (nearly everyone in our area supported Chelsea). He said no I won’t so I told I him Crystal Palace. Brilliant replied Alan, so do I & from that day a long lasting friendship was formed with the most caring, loving & funny guy I have ever known.

I have so many fond memories of him having holidayed with him & his loving late parents, John & Betty and toured Europe with him. Alan was a very good footballer (centre half) and as well as being Captain for the school, he played for the County and was on the youth books at Brentford. I often said to him that he was better than some of the players that have turned out for Palace. Jim Cannon, who we had the pleasure of playing golf with at a Charity Golf event around 6 years ago, was Alan’s hero and it made Alan’s day to meet & chat with Jim.

Despite suffering from Asthma, Alan also excelled at cross country running and was Merton Champion during his school days. He took part in the London Marathon in the 80’s and achieved a very respectable time of just over 4 hours. Alan was a very keen follower of Horse Racing and a was a member of the Elite Racing Club.

As many have said, Alan was a true gentleman and he will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends. Watching matches at Selhurst will never be the same.

Correction-: 3 hours 45 mins. Apologies Alan.

I’m not sure how I managed to miss this thread until now.

Very sad to hear the news of Alan’s passing. Condolences to his friends and family.

I would be grateful if someone could raise a ‘virtual’ glass for me.

I am actually over next week for my mum’s funeral, but would have loved to be there on sunday.

Take care all and best wishes..

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it to The Holmesdale before or after the game but I hope it goes well.

I'm glad I got the chance before the Leicester game to raise a glass for Alan in TheTwo Brewers and the old White Horse with a few of the old "HOL corner" group, it was great to catch up and reminisce.

I also hope the funeral goes well, again I will not be able to attend due to the location but I shall be thinking of him on the day and may raise a small glass to him.

R.I.P
Alan

BBF . This will be discussed on Sunday , the family have said flowers from family only as he is being cremated , other donations to Lymphoma Action ,but they think it would be nice to have a wreath from the HOL if people wish to do so. Colller Row Eagle raised this as well so we need to sort out what is best and how to arrange it.
