ALLARDYCE TO LEAVE EVERTON

Sam Allardyce looks set to leave Everton in the next 24 hours – with former Watford manager Marco Silva the preferred choice to replace him.

Sky Sports News believes Allardyce to due to meet Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri tomorrow where his six months in charge at Goodison Park will come to an end.

It’s understood Allardyce will be paid the vast majority of the final 12 months of his contract, estimated at around £6m.

I'd reckon he will be paid all of it, not just the majority of it. It makes the £2m he had to pay us back look like a bargain. Pays us back £2m, gets £3m in wages for the work he's done and £6m for nothing!

It also makes sense for why Watford haven't paid up Silva's contract after sacking him. Going to Everton, after having his head turned while still at Watford, is probably good grounds for withholding his compensation.

Watford should have taken the £15m they were offered and I hope Everton have a terrible season next year. 7th is your realistic peak nowadays.

I doubt whether he paid the £2m as it was more likely that Everton did much as we paid Newcastle a similar sum to acquire the services of Alan Pardew.

Yep, it's more likely Everton approached him with a 3 million salary. He said all well and good but he owes us 2. They say okay then we'll pay that off, give you the salary and a bonus for saving the club.

Then he goes and gets let go early through no fault of his own and gets another 6mil.

Wouldn't mind his job.

Travelled down from MK to Euston on the way to the match Sunday and lots of Everton fans on there and all to a man wanted Allardyce out, even more vocal on the way home.
Also dont rate Bolasie and want us to take him off their hands.
Grass is not always greener outside of Palace in fact not often is.

I don't care if Everton reimbursed him the £2m but it's nothing like when we took Pardew from Newcastle.

Sam said he was retiring and he wasn't, so no fault of Everton nor need for them to pay us. We approached Newcastle in the proper manner and paid them what they felt was due compensation for taking their manager off of them.

I don't care whether you care or not. We were discussing fees paid to acquire managers and not the reasons behind the fees.

It is highly unlikely that Everton re-imbursed Sam as then he would have had to pay income tax twice whereas if Everton paid us directly it would be a taxable deduction for Everton and Sam's tax position would be unaffected

I hope they get Silva, good start then relegation.

If not Frank would be great.

We weren't discussing it, you offered your opinion that they did "much as we" had when the two scenarios are not the same. You don't know but as I said already, I don't care who paid it back to us.

I'm fairly sure Sam would have a good enough account to claim back the taxes paid on the bonus received if he had to give it back. Unless you also think we got to write off the £2m as a loss and didn't have to declare that we got it back and repay the tax portion of it also?

Anyway...

BFS, in my opinion, is a much better manager that Silva. The football he had us playing wasn't bad and I think if Everton had given him a whole season they would have ended up top 6 or 7 which is the best they can realistically hope for.

Silva will come in and try to play football the way Everton fans feel they are entitled to and will end up 8-10th place, hopefully much lower and hopefully with zero points from Palace.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I don't really understand why Silva is so highly rated.
Yes he won the league with Olympiakos but this is hardly a great feat !
Went down with Hull, sacked by Watford after only winning 1 of their last 11 games under him.

Everton's Board must be as mad as a box of frogs. Paying £6m to dump a perfectly good manager who will keep them save and get them a decent league position after putting it to a fans' vote? And then they get in Silva who has had a few good moments but is basically nowhere near Allardyce' level.

About as sensible as getting rid of Pulis and hiring Pardew.

If they get relegated next season it will serve them right.

Incidentally TalkSh!te discussed Allardyce for about fifteen minutes earlier on this evening without mentioning Palace once.

I think only the Watford debacle would undermine his credentials - admittedly quite severely - everything else is pretty good. From what I recall, Hull's relegation wasn't his fault. I wonder if Sam was always filling in before they made a move on him again. Maybe there was a timescale before Silva could be employed again a la Pulis post Palace.

I don't think Sam should have lost his job, and I am pretty sure his 8th place finish will be better than whatever Silva achieves. But then again, he's done incredibly well out of being fired. Incredibly well. Sam's been around the block and his demand for the 2 years has 100% justified itself.
