Nope, just a nutter. In America he'd be a dead nutter, but the Canadian policeman somehow managed not to shoot him even when being coerced into doing so.

Very sad though, 10 people killed and 15 more badly injured.

He would be seen walking around Thornlea Secondary School with his head down and hands clasped tightly together making meowing noises,

Nothing to do with islam, then. Although adherence to such medieval bollocks almost certainly equates to ‘mental illness’.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

It would appear not. Anyone who claims to do anything in the name of religion is mentally f***ed, even if it's as harmless as not cutting their hair or whatever else.

“Not cutting your hair” is not likely to impact on other people. Where your holy book entreats its followers to cause damage to people who don’t follow the teachings in said book, we have a problem. Please don’t continue denial of this. Hinduism, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Confucianism etc are all practiced peacefully by their adherents - it’s just the “religion of peace” that has problems living quietly within its host society.

The problem is islam, fair and square.

Those kind of trivial nuances don't impact on other people in any meaningful way, but there are numerous cases where they are excepted from the rules on those grounds while others are not.

I deny nothing when it comes to the absurdities of religion but this particular case, to stick to topic, is not a case in point from all the available evidence so far. Unlike Merkel, who can't decide if it's a problem with the far right or Islam when those jewish people got attacked by Arabic speakers in Germany this week.

I saw the footage of the arrest on the news last night and thought exactly the same.

When there are nutters about, religious or otherwise, it is always going to be impossible to stop someone hell bent on destruction.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Remarkably good policing.

You should see the comments from various, so called, criminal academics/experts in the USA. It's so alien to them that they take the opposite view and try to justify why the policeman got it wrong.

However, Michael Lyman, professor of Criminal Justice Administration at Columbia College of Missouri, told the BBC that the officer may have had a "duty" to kill the suspect.

"Assuming the suspect is holding a gun and pointing it toward officers, it is concerning that the officer is not engaging the suspect with deadly force," he said.

I tend to agree with Lyman.

Unless this policeman could tell the suspect wasn't holding a gun I'm not sure it's a good idea.....Are we going to start hearing from some people that they shouldn't shoot unless shot at?

In this situation it would have been highly likely the officer would have been killed. He took a big risk.
