Thank goodness his standing leg slipped AFTER he'd struck the ball, he's been due a change of luck. It was a well taken penalty and hopefully will have given his confidence the boost it needs.

He slipped, or lost his footing, at the crucial moment, and the ball skidded forwards at a painfully slow speed. Luckily the keeper had dived ‘the wrong way’ and the ball somehow made it over the line. 2-1 Palace

Was welling up for Benteke’s penalty. When I heard everyone chanting his name felt so proud of this club and the fans. After the season he’s had for him to know the fans are still 100% behind him must be immense. Great to see the team spirit. Would love to keep Cabaye and Macurthur on board for at least another year. With a couple of fresh faces I think we could have a decent season. Think they’ll both go though and if it’s a dream move for Jimmy to head to Rangers after the player he’s been for us I wouldn’t want to stand in his way.

Luka should definitely be the player of the season for us. He's got all the qualities a good captain should have and he's a very talented player! Well done to benteke for scoring half the number of goals he has scored this season, in one match. Edited by eddiqc (29 Apr 2018 8.10am)

Who is the poster on here (forgotten his name) who doesn't consider penalties as goals? (He bizarrely believes they shouldn't count towards a strikers goal tally!).... I wonder what he thinks about Benteke taking the pen yesterday?? Was a great decision by Luka, Roy etc... Try and get a bit of confidence into Tekkers.
