I thought we would go down as it seemed to be a ' Perfect Storm ' in terms of change of manager, poor transfer windows and probably worst of all, the injuries we sustained.

What Roy and Ray have achieved is amazing given the 0 goals and 0 points from the first 7 games. And the majority of the players have given their all for the cause...

I always thought FDB was the wrong appointment and was equally unimpressed by the thought of RH stepping in. To me he was just someone who happened to be available at the time. Even after a few wins and improved performances I could not help feeling pessimistic - and the injury crisis just underlined my fears. That's why I'm so elated that Roy and the boys proved me wrong.

I backed FDB until his last game, because I wanted to see him succeed. I was hoping that he could improve our youth academy and bring in some young future stars!

My other mistake was believing that Benteke would improve after a few wins when Hodgson joined. Given up on him now!

I had my doubts about FdB, not really because I don't think he's a good manager, but because I don't think we have the personnel to play the Ajax way. Also, there's managers that can just walk into a big club and make it work, but give them a Palace and they would struggle, which was the case. I was very happy when Hodgson came on board, because, he's not your typical British lump it forward coach. We actually play some decent stuff and I really want Parish to give him a 3 year deal.

When Roy was appointed I thought - safe pair of hands and also I remembered his sterling work at Fulham.
I remained optimistic we could pull ourselves out of the hole FdB put us in. I didn't want us to rely on our favourable end of season run-in but it worked to our benefit given our winter injury crisis.
I wasn't too bothered by January's transfer - I mean typically you dont get great players then. Certainly not strikers unless you're buying Sanchez - and that hasn't exactly worked out great has it...

But I was wrong about Hennessy. He's no longer calamity Wayne. He's turned it around.

I want to be wrong about Benteke - it aint easy buying good strikers for our budget and selling one perceived to be a bad one will cost us.

If he then goes and then bangs in 25 for Wolves or someone we'll feel like Roma fans do about Salah right now! Unlikely, I know.

Joel Ward playing against Leicester - I berated this choice before kick off quite loudly where I sat in the Holmesdale. I said I love Roy but think he's stubborn sometimes and this will cost us. About 10 minutes later he cleared a Vardy goal off the line.

What struck me was my neighbours around me were so quick and gleeful to pat me on the back and say "oh thought you knew more than Roy". I was quick to say clearly I don't and glad I'm not the Manager. Again, not one bit of me hoped Vardy squeezed that in to prove me right about Ward!

To be fair, Vardy only had the chance because Ward was 3 years behind the rest of our backline and playing him onside!

Joel has been unreal for us over the years but if AWB wasn't coming through the ranks he would be one of the players I'd be looking to upgrade.

Please can we re-name this the “hands up” thread?

For my part, I did once bemoan that “draws won’t be enough” but on reflection I failed to “respect the point” or “respect another game unbeaten”.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I keep re-watching the incident and I think Vardy was offside.

He wasn't but he should've been.

Mods I'm happy for the title change as I didn't expect this topic to catch on and it's certainly a catchier title!

I done the same thing with the draws. Even up to as recently as Watford away.

I thought that wouldn't be enough because Leicester would be a very difficult game with a tense and nervy performance - wrong!

I thought the two Bournemouth draws and Watford draw were not good enough off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more - but just those 3 are of course 3 extra points and those 3 points look like saving us once again.
