It is not a fluke if we finish above Brighton because we were expected to. Likewise it is not a fluke that Man City finished above Newcastle for example.
I find it quite interesting that you should bring Brighton into the subject though.

The point he's making is Cardiff finished 2nd because over 46 games they had more points than the 22 teams below them, wasn't just about the last day. You could argue Fulham could have got enough points rather than leave it to the last day

I don’t think any outcome over 38, 46 etc games can be described as a ‘fluke’. A fluke is the ball hitting a player’s backside and flying into the top corner, or a photographer capturing a photo of Jose Mourinho appearing to be smiling.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Precisely the point I have been making.

In cardiffs defence they played wolves, villa, derby and lost those games last month and did slip into 3rd spot and didn't choke, they still battled and won games to get the points needed, they may not have the players Fulham have but man to man but over the season they have used there squad well, played as a unit, and gone on a few good runs gaining the points needed. They were unlikely promotion favourites and will be next year's relegation favourites but if i was Warnock i would not stay and go out on a high as Warnock struggles to keep teams up in the premier league.
