Shame they aren’t both playing for England this summer. Actually not a shame as we had rather his talents weren’t continually advertised to potential suitors. I know we wouldn’t begrudge him a big move and it might be an unanswered question as to how well he’d play for England, a lot like Salad’s understated international career, but Wilf being the Champion of Palace is so much more important than Wilf being at The World Cup for England.
So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet. |

From a selfish point of view yeah, but he should be on that darn plane with England to Russia this summer. Absolute disgrace England let him slip & despite him saying he’s happy with his decision, you can’t help feel he will know he should be there too. He’s a better player than Sterling in pretty much every aspect & that’s testament to him when you think Sterling has had continuous development at free flowing attacking teams & Zaha had pretty much a whole year out + has helped teams fight relegation ever since. You have to give Sterling credit for his numbers this season, but I’m almost certain in a team of the same style with the same opportunities handed to him, Wilf would be ahead. And beyond figures, Wilf brings so much more to a game in the way he can beat players too. He deserves mention for this seasons performance, and I’m glad he’s getting it. But I find the term “breakthrough” misleading as anything. It’s as if the pundits completely disregard the fact he was consistently excellent last season too & as important to us. Although I suppose the Gillette lot are the epitome of lazy British punditry... Edited by Mstrobez (11 May 2018 7.49am)

surely a 'breakout star' must be unknown beforehand. Not exactly the case with Zaha. Who had even heard of Mo Salah just 2 years ago ?
Eze Peasy at Anfield.... |

Before this year he’d already played 5 years in elite leagues, 6 seasons in a row in European competitions and 50 odd caps / 30 odd goals. Plus a £36m or so transfer fee. He’s had a great season for sure, fully deserved player of the year. But breakout, not so sure.

No sure if you could class Salah as a breakout star - especially when £36m was paid for him they must have expected something! Doucoure at Watford has had an immense season for a team who have been pretty s***e and come out of the blue. Wilf also a shout purely because he's managed to string together a more improved and consistent set of performances in comparison to previous seasons. Scarily feel like there is still more to come from Wilf

Sterling’s been fecking amazing this year. If 18 goals and 11 assists in 28 starts isn’t getting you going, I have no idea what will. Your point about ‘anyone could score in that team’ is so far wrong. The first challenge is to hold down a place in City’s team, which he has done, and then he’s excelled. Maybe we should sack Kane off too? I conclude you won’t enjoy the World Cup very much. Come off it, anyone would look a million dollars in the Man City team. Stick Stirling in the Stoke side and the little f***er wouldn’t be seen...

I do feel Wilf would score a hatful in that team, primarily because of all the chances they create.
