Painter, apparently McArthur himself said on the FYP podcast that in summer 2016 he signed a new contract through to 2020 and would therefore be staying, and was happy to be. I suspect most of those websites are only as good as the news that gets reported (and sometimes not that good). Maybe there is some nuance that means he could still go on a free, but I doubt it. Also, when Hodgson mentioned renewals, he didn't mention McArthur. So maybe he will be hanging around. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (10 May 2018 2.24pm)

JM should not go anywhere. I thought he was outstanding for a lot of the season and the work he puts in is second to none in the team.

For a few years now (three at least) the club have stopped announcing mid season contract extensions. I think it is to stop speculation when talks are ongoing
