Better Achievment - Pulis, Allardyce or Hodgson?

I love Roy’s style of play. His professionalism, his calm attitude and that he loves the club. He is building a top 7 team. However, what Pulis achieved with our squad was absolutely remarkable. He turned water into wine. It was truly phenomenal. Pulis by a country mile.

Hodgson. Pulis and Allardyce might have both started with ‘worse’ squads, but both had the luxury of splashing the cash in January and bringing in players. Not only did Roy rely almost entirely on our existing squad, he also had a horrible injury crisis to deal with. As effective as the other two were, Hodgson has also done it by getting us to play some lovely football. We’ve scored some beautiful team goals this season. His style of play is finally allowing us to take points off the teams we ‘should’ beat. In the past we’ve stayed up knicking results at Anfield or Stamford Bridge, but then losing at home to Burnley etc. This season we still played well against the big boys, and with a fully fit squad and a bit of luck might have knicked at least one of those games, but we finally seem like we can unlock teams who come to Selhurst for a point. In terms of development it’s actually a massive step, and exactly what Parish was looking for in the summer. Also, I’m sure it’s been mentioned already, but although it went very south in the end, Pardew’s first six months were very impressive and should be counted in this discussion. The end of the second Warnock era was comfortbaly the worst I think we’ve played since being back in the Prem. That home loss to Southampton was truly abysmal.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

Sorry but this season's opening day v Huddersfield, followed by the defeat v Swansea, were the worst 2 matches I've seen here for years. You are right that the Southampton game under Warnock was bad, but to start a season in total disarray with the talent we had on show today available, was unforgivable. RH has turned the season round using the same players available to the Dutch clown, showing him what was possible with this team playing to its strengths and despite our one true centre forward being woefully out of form. It's been nothing short of miraculous.

He did, but moving Wilfred into a central role along with Andros worked a treat. Which many on here lambasted... Nobody lambasted it because we had no striker to select. It was having no striker as back up that was lambasted. On which was the best achievement I’d rather leave all of them deserving their merit but Hodgson has us playing the best football. However he now has the issue of possibly 2 midfielders not being here next season.

Here is a thought to ponder. If you do the maths, if CP's results from the 8th match onwards had been replicated over the whole season we would have finished where Burnley finished (not sure how the goal difference would have stacked up). So CP might have been playing in Europe next year! As for who deserves the credit I think it should go to the Board for making the hard decisions about sacking managers and finding new, really effective ones. The obvious concern is why did successive managers burn out or leave?

Pardew lasted here similar times as at other clubs and a good deal longer than at WBA I suspect Pulis wanted more control on transfers and may have been after another 'keep us up bonus' Allardyce was just in it for the money. He found another dupe in Everton and is no doubt looking forward to being terminated so that he can 'rescue' another team next season

Be fair one of last year's holidays was a working holiday as he went to Ibiza to extend Zaha's contract. This June he will be flying out to Kavos to sign a new contract with Cabaye then on to Magaluf to do the same with Hennessy then on to Malia to sort out the next one.
