Most will say Hodgeson due to him being the current manager and hasnt done anything to sour his achievements like Pulis and Sam did but fir me its Pulis. There is no comparison between the squad we have now and the one we had under Pulis. As others have said it wasnt pretty to watch but it was functional, what we needed and he got very average players to perform as a team greater than the sum.of their parts.

Pulis - all day long

All managers have done good jobs, especially Roy considering the injuries and not having a striker all season.

But TP had none of the stars we have today. I remember going to Villa away when we won 1-0 and we had Moxey at left back, Ward in midfield, Bannon on the left....Just a team of championship players and we managed to stay up. I often wonder where Palace would be if he didn't come in.

Totally agree with the above!

Pulis had a worse squad to work with, the football wasn't great at times but very effective.

Woy has done a wonderful job & we have played some excellent football recently but he had a much stronger squad to work with although there was a spell when we had 12 players out.

Ah, that old chestnut...

Would you call him that to his face?

He's done the best job of the three, confidence was brittle even though we have the best squad we've had since the early nineties, we had so many setbacks and injuries, plus Roy's a better human being than Pulis.

I'd say Roy, given the start we had, and given how low confidence must've been when he took over.

However, I'd say that if we are comparing rescue jobs and how far they took us as a club...then I'd say Pardews first year trumps the whole lot.

(Tin hat donned!)

I'm not sure if Pardew's was the most impressive rescue job, but totally unfair of the OP to leave him out of the reckoning.

All three managers (Pulis, Allardyce and Hodgson) have made terrific contributions to keep us in the PL. They earned their places in our history but in terms of personality it has to be Roy ... cos he has one!

Not forgetting Pards took us to our first FA Cup Final in 26 years but I am sure he would have got us relegated too.

Pulis had the worst squad to work with,However he had luck whilst Roy might have had the far better squad but was afflicted by a horrendous injury list and a run of very bad luck. So really hard to call but I'rd probably have to give it to Pulis just because he achieved so much with so little, If asking for best football, then Hodgson's team by a country mile.
The team are probably playing the best football we've seen since the 1972 team occasionally managed.

Team of the 80ies (Sansom, Hilaire, Murphy, Cannon & Co) with Terry V as manager were not bad either.

For me, Roy.

Not only did he keep us up when everyone had us as down, but he managed us with a dire injury list, an off form striker, an inherited squad, AND he also bought back confidence, belief and love for the club and team to a squad that was all over the shop, AND he also got us playing some of the best football i have ever seen at Palace.
AND.... he also didn't change anything drastic and doesn't look to altering our DNA - AND i think the chairman has learnt something from him to.

We have been well served by each of them really.

The job for Eagles is to stop getting in such a mess in the first place.

Hopefully RH has seen that, he needs a lot of help to persuade the owners IMO.

That's what I think too, but if Roy is still here next season then he goes to the top of the list. Pardew did well when he first arrived, and he got us to a cup final, but he lost the plot along the way.

I think there was a greater manager than that lot...not because he was a better manager,
he came in,
we were skint,
players not getting paid,
just went into administration,
deducted 10 points ,
lost our main players who we couldn't let get injured so we could sell them,
we were going down to league 1,
nobody else would touch us.

Yes, the forgotten man ... wasn't he appointed by the administrator?

Also, there was the guy who helped Dougie ... but I can't remember his name either

Indeed and, yes he was appointed caretaker by the administrator, the day after Warnock and his crew went to QPR. Perhaps we should consult Brendan Guilfoyle on future managerial appointments?
