I kicked this thread off.

For me it's simple;

Roy took charge after 5 games - no wins, draws, points or goals.
Impact was not immediate - we went 7 games, no wins, points or goals.
We were reputedly the worst side in Europe.!!
Football was awful - we were awful.
We appointed Roy - everyone was talking about Iceland.
We were every pundits nailed on favourites to go down.
Even the Weed - were laughing..!!
Additionally at points we had an injury list from hell - at times a whole team out.
From that we have taken 44 points from 31 games.
Not just being defensive and "hoof ball" ala Pulis and Allardyce.
But playing good football - the recent games have been a joy to watch - some of the best I've seen a Palace side play.
Look at the second goal yesterday - would that have ever happened under Pulis or Allardyce - no way.
Sometimes ain't what you do - it's the way that you do it - and that's what get results - thanks Banarama - LOL..!!
Neither Pulis or Allardyce were ever Palace in my book - their actions prove that.
Roy on the other hand has lived every up, down, turn and twist with us - he's one of our own..!!

For all that he goes to the top of the tree in my book - arise Sir Roy and thoroughly deserved.

If that was really the case then surely Pulis would have said so, particularly during and after the court case (and appeal) - he’s never been backward in coming forward.

He was reported as telling the original hearing he left to be closer to his family & thats what the (non-existent) land deal was about - if that’s not the case then he’s lied to a judge with no need to. I’m sure they’d have been slightly less harsh if he’d been able to cite a proper reason for leaving us in the lurch & conning the club into paying his bonus early.

Allardyce simply wanted to restore his reputation (& top the savings account up) IMHO.

Coppell's achievement in keeping us up after the 9-0 And Ian Wright breaking his leg twice was also special...

Yet another successful job by BFS 6 months work and a 6 million pay off. He must have earned more money in payoffs than any manager in the history of football. He will now sit and wait for another mug of a club to employ him again get as long a term contract as possible upset everyone with crap football and get sacked after 6 months with another payoff. When will these gullible clubs learn.

I doubt whether the chairmen of your so called gullible clubs view Sam's achievements and remuneration in quite the same mealy mouthed way that you do.

When Sam joined us most of thought that we were dead certs for relegation yet he turned it round. Relegation would have cost the club several hundred million in terms of lost revenue so I'm guessing that your gullible Steve Parish regarded Sam's cost here as excellent value.

Likewise Everton were spiralling downwards and were in the frame for relegation yet Sam saved them from the Championship and several hundred millions in lost revenue in the process and is therefore again good value.

Its Roy. I think Pulis actually performed a greater miracle but he was helped by the players staying fit whereas Roy has had to pull us out of the mire with horrendous injury problems which he has handled with great skill
