For me, Damo epitomises this football club. Not only had the game written him off, as a player he wrote himself off too. He was prepared to walk away until Dougie gave him his chance. His journey mirrored our own early premier league story. That team should never have stayed up according to all the pundits and damo should have never been a premier league player. However, through sheer heart and unwavering belief the team stayed up and got stronger, whilst Delaney proved he deserved a place at the top table. Without leaders such as Damo and Mile this fairytale we're experiencing would have died ages ago, A top top man. An underrated cb too in truth. A warrior of a person. I wish him all the best.

Damien Delaney is a fantastic footballer and an exceptionally decent man. However, I find the word 'legend' a bit over used. For a start, he's not dead. He's not mythical. He's not history. He's very much part of the here and now. Still, I know what you mean, Folk lore hero If we are going to confer 'legendary' status on someone, shouldn't there be an official ceremony where he gets to put a sword out of a stone?
