I personally prefer 4 3 3 with zaha and Townsend out wide I just can't see Roy nor sticking with 442 and even if we offload benteke I can't see us spending nowhere near as much on a striker in the summer.

In response to the OP, I guess Roy will put out whatever formation he feels will get the job done with the resources he has available. It's quite unusual for us to have a manager who has far more tactical nouse than most previous ones. Having spent god knows how long with a succession who only had Plan A or Plan A it takes a bit of getting used to. What is clear is that every player will know their position, role & exactly what is expected of them game by game.

Zaha is now a striker not a winger, he will play central mainly with more of a free role, a new mobile top class striker is needed then Townsend can play wide in the four, I think another holding midfielder so we can play Luka and the new one against the better teams, new keeper as well, deadwood out, job done, could you imagine Wilf and AJ at his peak up front, Wow

Roy is not going to change from 4-4-2. The only question is who he brings in over the summer and who goes out. A Zaha/Bentenke partnership in theory should work really well if Tekkers can find form/confidence. The other option is we bring in someone like Long who might not score loads but will run for 90 minutes putting pressure on the oppositions backline. At the moment we have three big strikers, so it would be good to have at least one alternative option.

We need a centre forward so that we can have a better configured midfield with a clear attacking focal point.
