PC Darren Balkham, the police’s football liaison officer, say the force is a “learning organisation” – and insists the trust between officers and fans has not been affected.

Yes he's probably right bearing in mind it didn't happen to the Brighton fans it was us they treated horrifically! The absolute tosser!

How can you be made Match Commander, when still learning ? Haven't they learnt anything from Duckenfield ?

Trust levels were already at 0%, so they couldn't get worse, and improbable they would improve, sadly.

I believe the Keystone Kops were a learning organisation too.

This is one of those glib cathphrases that the Match Commander will have picked up on his media training day.

Match commander. Says it all. An inadequate little prick promoted well and truly beyond his capabilities.

As people who are following this may know the Independent Police Complaints body rejected the complaint from the Crystal Palace Supports Trusts that had been forwarded to them by the Sussex police on the basis that complaints could not be put forward on behalf of a group but had to be by a named individual.

We need individual fans willing to put their names to either one or more of the following specific complaints. If no one comes forward by the end of this week we will have to drop these complaints. A Board member has been able to put their name to 28 complaints as he was one of the people affected but the following were not things that happened to him so he cannot complain about them.

Some people have already contacted me before and said they would be willing for their names to be used but can they (and anyone else) scan the details below and let me know by pm if they were directly affected by any of them and which one/ones they were affected by. I will then need their name address telephone number and email and confirmation they are happy for the Trust to put their name forward as being affected.

The complaints that need somebody to put their name to are as follows:-

Arrival and Escort to Brighton Railway Station

1. When CPFC fans requested to leave Buddies Bar officers forcefully created a containment and some officers became aggressive.

2. That the CPFC fans were marched in a rolling containment to Brighton Railway Station taking an hour and half; this should have taken no more than 30 minutes. This suggests a lack of planning by the match commander.

3. That along the route they were repeatedly stopped to ensure more CPFC fans could be forced into the rolling containment.

4. That owing to being held in this rolling containment CPFC fans were targeted with verbal and physical abuse from BHAFC fans. Pub locations for both sets of fans were know in advance, a pre-arranged route should have been identified, with adequate briefing to staff, to prevent CPFC fans being targeted.

5. That whilst held in this rolling containment officers were rude and aggressive, using force in an untargeted fashion.

6. That when the rolling containment came to a stop or corner, this led to fans jostling with officers. Officers responded by drawing and on occasion using their batons against whoever was closest; including strikes to the head.

7. That there was a lack of verbal communication with CPFC fans.

CPFC Fans Leaving the Amex Stadium

25. CPFC fans who had seen the match were made to wait for an hour outside of the stadium before moving off to Falmer Railway Station.

26. During this time there was insufficient segregation between the two fan groups. BHAFC fans were allowed to shout abuse and threats at waiting CPFC fans who were contained by police.

Falmer Railway Station 3

27. CPFC fans were told to board a London bound service, regardless of whether they were staying in Brighton or lived elsewhere.

28.That officers pushed and used force on people to get them onto the train.

29. That 20 CPFC fans who persuaded officers that they needed to wait for the next train (to an alternative location) were subjected to verbal abuse and threats from BHAFC fans.

30. CPFC fans were threatened with arrest when pleading with officers not to be forced onto the train.

"Sussex Police are in breach of the Freedom of Information Act following a complaint made to the ICO by FYP.

Here's a summary of what has happened so far.

Back in November 2017, Crystal Palace fans were falsely accused of carrying knives and knuckledusters into the American Express Stadium. While Sussex Police apologised, they didn't explain how this false allegation had come into the public domain.

They also failed to explain why Detective Inspector Simon Nelson had said on Twitter that weapons had been found or why they had alleged Palace fans had tried to get in without tickets. In December, we made various FOIA requests to find out how they had come to make such false public statements.

In February, they refused to disclose any information on public interest grounds. We objected immediately and sent an extensive letter on 27 February 2018 detailing why they are wrong not to have admitted what happened.

Sussex Police are obliged to reply to this letter but didn't. We told Sussex Police on 5 June 2018 that if they didn't respond within a week we would report them to the Information Commissioners Office. They ignored us.

On the 22nd of June 2018, we made a complaint to the ICO about Sussex Police's ongoing refusal to admit why they and DI Nelson made false public statements.

This was the letter we sent Sussex Police to put them on notice about our complaint to the ICO.

Letter

Following our complaints to the ICO, three separate investigations were opened into the Sussex Police by the ICO.

These investigations relate to the Sussex Police's failure to respond to certain elements of our information requests and their failure to provide a proper review of those requests where they had refused disclosure on public interest grounds.

The ICO has now issued a decision notice against the Sussex Police for their failure to respond.

The Decision Notice which is now public has found that the Sussex Police have breached FOIA in failing to answer the following four information requests.

4 points

Sussex Police now have 35 days to respond to this request of they will be in contempt of court, which may result in a fine or imprisonment of a responsible senior officer.

The remaining two investigations will be followed up in kind."
(FYP)

well done 5 year plan. However the police can cite many (legitimate) reasons for not giving out information. Something for which Harry Webb should be eternally grateful for

keep at 'em, though. This needs wider media coverage. Great effort

Whilst FYP deserve huge congrats for their sterling work in doing this & I hope they get the outcome they deserve, my worry is there will be a backlash on Dec 4th when we meet again at the 'mansex'. I honestly can see a concerted effort by Sussex Police to 'implicate' Palace fans in whatever means possible.

Will they 'plant' items on unsuspecting fans as they arrive, will fans be 'coralled' as they arrive at stations? I fear it could kick off big time coz of the actions of the police.

I doubt there will anything that looks like clear bullying. This is all in the public domain now. Let's hope some of the national media take an interest and come along for the ride.
