You're right as I'm sure every American family and certainly chat show host would testify. If you look carefully enough, the NRA-loving Trump can be seen with 'blood on his hands'....

Chat show hosts, the vast majority. American families, not so sure.

Good point. I heard a Democrat politician on the radio the other day defending the right to bear arms on the grounds that it’s the USA’s democratic decision, even though he personally disagreed with it, and was full of sorrow for the victims. It was interesting.

ON many levels, 'the right to bear arms' is wrong, wrong, wrong. Its a throwback to Billy the Kid, Jesse James etc.. All loonies, glorified like our own Ned Kelly.
If the yanks were to look outside their own narrow world. All of civilized Europe does not have gun problems on the scale of the U.S.and compare the other civilized country on their doorstep.Canada, it does not have gun problems anything like this. Do they have the same gun laws as the US. No.
It breaks my hearts to see those placards saying, "Am I next" and know that maybe some of those kids who died in Texas carried placards like that when previous events occurred.
Please, America, WAKE UP. You are killing your own children.

Oh the 'feels' instead of the 'reals'.

The US isn't going to give up the rights to civilian gun ownership and the reasons are multi varied.

If you could just magically transport them into a situation like the UK where most of the guns were only with official agencies and strictly regulated owners then I think many in the US would take that option.

However, the practical steps required to get to that position in reality would split the country and come with much blood letting.

My view is that America chooses its own path but I have sympathy for your feelings. It's a sh1t sandwich.

I doubt it. A huge swathe of Americans believe rightly or wrongly that there is too much government and want the reassurance of being able to arm themselves...

The Second Amendment is there for US citizens to defend themselves against a tyrannical government. The banning of guns will never happen (at least in our lifetimes) because the majority of the country don't want a ban.

Well, I said many.

Let's not forget that 200 years ago it was an argument that could be made, but today hunting rifles don't tend to be very effective against artillery, tanks or aerial bombardment.

Glad you brought this up, 'good' gun stories – good men and women preserving life with guns – rarely gets a mention these days.

Sadly Indianapolis incident. Teacher puts himself in harms way for his students and takes a bullet.Another student injured. This teacher did NOT have a gun.
Trump wants to put their economy back in the black. Ban gun imports. Then they can kill one another with their own weapons. Perhaps its a start.
