Just as well you are not on the board then

Hodgson is pushing hard for some new players to come in early. That will be tough and cost.

What's he going to do if it doesn't happen. He could walk and it wouldn't affect any future job prospects he has. His reputation has been restored at least for other than elite clubs - though he would probably have done a good job for Arsenal

Obviously the TV money may be enough, but with the new stand there may be pressure to sell an asset. I'm sure Benteke would be first choice if there are any takers but there has been little talk about any one else - though Luka might get some interest if he has a good WC

I'm guessing the board are hoping Villa win next week and decide thay need Benteke back. That would also make Fulham players more likely to be available

EVen if Zaha went and we got 60M, all of a sudden, any player we want, doubles in price. But if someone does ocme knocking with 60M, you think the board will think twice ?

The value of Wilfred for us is much more than the market value. Neverthless anything less than 70M. it's absurd! Let me put it this way if Van Dijk was transfered by 67M. We've got one straight answer...

To put this new stand cost and possible sales of players into perspective the Americans have invested £50 million isn’t it that’s ring fenced for ground development so we’re short by the average summer net transfer fee spend which is most likely going to be financed with business loans rather than making decisions that could jeopardise our prem status.

IF that were the case, then we shouldn't be building such an expensive new stand. As the injuries this season showed, our squad is paper thin and the money from any player sales needs to be used to improve the squad, not the infrastructure. As I've understood the project, the owners are funding the building works as our income will be increased when they're completed.

Thanks for info. I was going more by the Arsenal experience where Wenger was limited on cash whilst the Emirates was under construction. I guess the finances were not structured like ours

That was one huge stadium all in one go. This is one stand.

Everton.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Evert....hahahahahahahahahaha.

No amount of money would be a good deal. If we had a terrible squad you could maybe see an argument for generating funds to build a team, but we don't need any serious adjustments and we would be incredibly lucky to replace him with someone half as good.

If (and it's a big if) Wilf decides he wants to leave it will only be to a club challenging for trophies. Why go back to the northwest to finish perhaps one or two places higher than Palace for (maybe) a few pennies more? Never going to happen. In England I can only see Man City being willing to pay the size of fee and wages it would take to drag him away, and even then I imagine Parish will have him in a fingercuff.

Look it's this simple if Wilf leaves will only to be a top 6 club - so a club that can offer something we can't currently - European football, Domestic trophies and the top table....!!

Everton link is laughable - they don't have the money or Gravitis - beyond that don't even have a manager - lazy end of season journalism - nothing in it..!!

So that leaves the top 6;

City don't need him - anyway looks like Mahrez is in their sights so forget it.
Man U - no way - been there done it - Mouriniho a nightmare - they ain't going no further forward all the time he is at the helm.
Liverpool - don't need him, even if they did come in if the they win the Champions League - would only be a benchwarmer - just can't see it..!!
Spurs - couldn't afford him with their new stadium to be paid for.
Arsenal - no Manager - prices being quoted seems to rule them out.
Chelsea - as I have said previously, possibly keeps Wilf in London - this would all depend on what happens with Hazard - if he goes to Real - then this becomes a real possibility. Depends what happens with Conte.

Meantime Wilf has said no plans/desire to leave, loving being at Palace and only a year into a 5 year deal.

Given all that - think we'll see Wilf in Red and Blue for at least another season yet..!!

If our squad is paper thin and we had the worst run of injuries this season than in memory, how do you account for the fact we finished 11th?
You could say Hodgson did a brilliant job, but he could only work with players available in the squad, therefore our squad is good enough. That doesn't mean it cannot be improved, but its not paper thin, as people like to quote.
