I agree with what CambridgeEagle has been posting people like to blame immigration way too much and others sourcing the likes of the daily mail to back up there claims just shows what level they are at.

The NHS has always been under funded and globally is top rated on what it does for such a small budget.

Yes there is money being wasted but you could say the same for any company and any one with a brain that has worked in government systems knows they waste lots of money it's the way it is.

Now people attacking the old claiming they never paid enough i disagree if you really knew the older generation they would not go and seek medical help unless it was a must so i bet most of them went many years without any treatment and only started it when it got to the point they had to (youngsters now will use nhs if they have cold)

A big problem with nhs is how much they pay for everything look at medication costs there is generic versions they should be allowed to pay few pence for per tablet o no they cant do that they have to pay premium at few £ per one even hundreds.

I noticed and hear from nhs staff about bank staff and when you work out how much they are paid it is madness some are sitting around for hours not really doing much yet paid double or time/half more then fully qualified nurses.

That is ridiculous and GP's shouldn't be prescribing paracetamol which is available at Sainsbury at 40p per packet.

There are articles appearing monthly about how much diabetes is costing the NHS but I've never seen a breakdown of the cost and where it is spent.

I have type 2 diabetes and appear to be one of the few that isn't grossly overweight. A few years ago I got stuck in the Canary Islands when all the aircraft were grounded due to the Icelandic volcano and ran out of my prescription medication. Fortunately Metformin is available over the counter in Spain and I got a month's supply for 4 Euros and I assume that included a profit for the pharmacy. As I've said I've no idea where this huge cost for diabetes comes from but it shouldn't be for Metformin.

That could be cut out simply by saying that no hospital is allowed to pay more than x% more than the equivalent NHS hourly rate for bank staff but a lot could be done to cut out the need for bank staff by being more accommodating with the NHS staff.

My wife is a nurse and at her hospital there were certain nurses that wanted to work night shifts as it fitted in with their domestic arrangements and it worked nicely until a new nurse manager decided that everyone had to swap around resulting in the nurses that were happy on night shifts leaving. The nurses that didn't really like night shifts but were now forced to work them also left

How diverse is the area in which you live?

The Daily Mail link was one of three. Also, the Mail were quoting the same statistics from the same survey that CambridegeEagle used.

I refuted his original claim and I was accurate.

I dont agree with paracetamol it should be case by case because of few reason some long term people need large supply which you cant buy that much over the counter for one and the other thing is 40p is not much when you buy couple of packets but if you are taking say 200 a month that is a lot of money and ends up costing about the same as paying prescription charge which people do not every one gets it free.

The other thing is that drug for large amounts should be costing hardly anything nhs should be getting thousands of them for not even a penny a tablet.

diabetes does cost nhs fair bit which for type 1 people that is not an issue but type 2 it shouldn't be the case it's for people to take control and do what is needed.

diabetes type 2 cost is because most those people go on to have complications and you should be getting multi tests done not just bloods also seeing multi health workers and then for people taking medications that cost it all adds up to be fair chunk.

that drug you listed costs the nhs around £500 a year per patient dosage depending of course.

generic versions could start at £40+ depending of dosage.

The whole obese/overweight thing on outside is just more bs they like to shout about yes it goes together large % of the time but metabolically obese is what happens when you get type 2 body type doesn't matter it's about diet.

That wont work the rate is like that because supply/demand.

A lot of the bank staff are nhs workers they do it on the side this is why when I hear them moaning about their hours being long and hard it's a joke most of them go and do other paid work as well so if they had more favorable hours they would be working more at other places for higher rate anyway or just keep doing over time in other departments.

What your wife experienced happens alot and it used to be the management was one of the proper workers there with the others not someone who never really has contact with the staff working the nights this system went many years ago.

The area I live in it's now rare to even see original English people most of the people about are either eastern Europeans or Africans and the English ones you do see are mostly retired.

Those non retired people all work so they are paying into the system there is this whole story the media likes to make up that people come here to just claim that is false a lot of them will come over do various jobs and if no work around move on (we dont just hand out benefits to them for coming to the country)

The area in which you live please. I can then actually check as to the statistical truth on how diverse it is. I live in Wisbech. There is no danger to you in stating an area.

I'd be more sympathetic if they didn't waste so much money. I also resent paying out to fund care for the 250k new arrivals every year who have contributed next to nothing and keep on coming year after year.

In my opinion from a number of different personal experiences, the NHS is outdated and needs a massive rethink. Excellent in concept but sadly lacking in so many areas of practice.

Change the welfare system so that it can no longer be used as a lifestyle option and is only there for people who genuinely can’t work or through no fault are otherwise unemployed, retired etc (the original idea of the welfare state).

Save billions that way instead of taxing the population that already go out to work (to support themselves) further.

I agree but it's not simple to just reset it.

The welfare system has gone through lots of changes and all it is doing is attacking the people that need help.

I think people forget it is not easy to just do changes and as with all things different people have opinion on what change should be done so some people will always be hard done by.

I know people that live in areas that will never have any work for them so if they did the changes you suggest should they be forced out of there homes to a place which has more options? if so you still need the housing to offer this person which currently there is not enough of.

more people that work are taking out of the system then ones that do not excluding pensioners of course.

people need to stop listening to media on how you have all these people living of the state living it up not working popping out kids etc its all load of rubbish.
