Roy clearly stated a while back that as far as he was concerned, Guaita was a done deal and joining Palace on the 1st July........

We are obviously looking at other possibilities as we may be losing 2 keepers.

Sorry guys but I never saw a public statement from the club nor any parties linked with Guaita stating he is joining for me the deal is not done. It will be done only when the club will publish a public statement saying it clearly.
So at the moment it's pure speculation and at the moment this leaves us with 0 keepers on contract for the upcoming season. Neither Speroni or Hennessey have a contract that continues after the 1st of July !
Regarding Lafont he is clearly a very hot prospect and playing in a team battling for relegation meens that he already prooved his mental ability and he knows what it's like to play under total pression from the other team so it's clearly a good call.

Problem is. Lafont wouldn’t dream of coming if it was to play second fiddle. And you’d suspect it would be the same for Guaita.

Maybe rumors about guaita having second thoughts are true so we are trying to get a replacement and then sell him on

Would be a massive step up- just hoping we get our business in the transfer market done early this time round!

Who am I kidding, we'll be shopping in the bargain basement on deadline day regardless

Flippin well hope so. Would be a coup beyond anything I’ve ever seen at Palace.

From the albeit limited amount I’ve seen of both, I’d say Lafont is already a better goalkeeper than Guaita. I agree it may well be bulls*** but I think we need to stop marginalising ourselves to the ideology of experience being the be all and end all.

This kids made 105 first team appearances at 19 and at the top level. French league or not, that’s ridiculously impressive. Especially in a team fighting relegation so it’s safe to say he’s faced his fair share of shots!

The more time goes on, the more I suspect something strange is occurring with Guaita. The club would literally have no reason not to make an announcement at this stage if the deal was genuinely set in stone. Both clubs & the player have finished their respective seasons and an agreement in principle would now surely be a formality.

What I hope above everything else is that we’re not furiously trying to convince Guaita to buy into the vision when he’s already had his head turned.

I’m no fan of Hennessey, but in a team under Roys leadership that seems to be able to play well enough, forcing a new goalkeeper in as a replacement just seems a bit pointless.

Either way, as I said previously, players of this kids ilk is the exact right idea. With the money involved in the Premier Legaue, we’re a club who can take advantage of potential world beaters from clubs abroad as the bigger clubs are yet to decide whether they are quite ready for them.

It would appear Lafont falls into that particular category.

Good points. Personally think neither will arrive, one will go to Athletico and the other to understudy at the Arse. Think Hart may well arrive, Roy has worked with him in the past and under his management may feel he can raise his game. WH will keep the gloves for the beginning of the season.

The truth of this causes internal irritation.

This maybe how it pans out but we seem sure we have got Guaita on a bosman so if Athletico or anyone want him or he wants out then someone has to buyout his contract. SP seems to ensure our contracts are water tight. it is perfectly possible that Guaita is left in limbo as we hold his registration, unable to play elsewhere while this go to court.

We should put the heads of Dowie and Pulis on spikes outside the ground as a reminder to anyone who might be thinking about breaking a contract with Palace.
If court cases were football matches we'd be champions.

If the reports about Guaita are true, then its a win/win for us. We get Guaita on a free and we sell him for profit if he Atletico want him. Can't see them spunking £15 million on a back up goalkeeper though.

Check out the compilations of saves of both Lafont and Guaita on You Tube.

I know which I prefer.
