Fantastic money earner (for me) just wished the USA, Italy,Chile and even Ireland had qualified. Still Peru and Colombia make up for them.
Argentina to win it for me.....

Hosts Russia will enter their own World Cup as the lowest-ranked side of all 32 teams competing in the tournament.

A trend I expect to be extended to the next two World Cups too.

Optimistic as ever

Not too excited, will probably grow into it, BUT, I fear there will be far to much coverage on the 'off-field' antics in the BBC/ITV news coverage than the actual finals.

Just my opinion tho

I have a proclivity not too get too excited about the WC in the build-up to it but once it starts I generally become quite enthusiastic about the tournament. At this present time I am none too enthused but I suspect this will all change next Thursday.

Love the World Cup, love that all my mates that support different clubs will be supporting England. Feel sorry for people that think that they need to say ‘ club before country’ and all that s*it. Can love both of them. Can’t wait for it.

I'm sort of looking forward to it, but there again I didn't even realise that England were playing tonight.........

Putin thinks that Pele and Di Stefano are great but the best is Russian legend goalkeeper Lev Yashin.

In the 1958 tournament Finney sent him the wrong way from the penalty spot with his weaker foot.

Can't help noticing that was 60 years ago Vladimir.

I want Mexico to do well just to stick it to Trump. I hope both Iceland and England do well as well. I certainly won't miss the overpaid and overhyped U.S. team. Bring on the Women's World Cup 2019.

Whatever anyone thinks of Donald Trump, I hardly think Mexico winning a few ‘soccer’ matches will bother him in the slightest.

I am not overly excited yet. The anticipation I used to feel in the lead up to a World Cup has dissipated somewhat.

The tournament has become a bit overblown, although I appreciate that the standard of football around the world has increased enormously over the years meaning that it would be unrealistic to have only 16 teams in the finals as was the case until Spain '82.

In recent tournaments (the last 25 years) some of the best games have been in the earlier stages, whilst some of the finals and semis have been dire and often spoilt by one side being over-cautious - the worst examples probably being Italy in '94 and Netherlands in 2010. Fortunately both got their just desserts and lost.

Much more confident than previous ones. Young squad with no primadonnas to upset team spirit plus we actually seem to have a plan. The only thing missing is a really top class centre back
