If this is such an issue then campaign and get the council to remove it. I get angry when people on the left complain that direct action is the only way things get done. In other words they didn't get their way at the ballot box so they will ignore democracy and use whatever means they deem acceptable to get their way. Bristol City council is run by the Labour Party so presumably if people are offended by a statue to a slave trader then they would get a sympathetic hearing. One more point

I have a problem with vandalism full stop. If this is such an issue then campaign and get the council to remove it. I get angry when people on the left complain that direct action is the only way things get done. In other words they didn't get their way at the ballot box so they will ignore democracy and use whatever means they deem acceptable to get their way.

Bristol City council is run by the Labour Party so presumably if people are offended by a statue to a slave trader then they would get a sympathetic hearing.
