Nobody in their right mind wants anything like that, whatever their political persuasion. I would hope and expect those involved are found and face the punishment they so richly deserve. Arming the Police wouldn't help though. It would just ramp up the trouble and I would not expect that our Police would ask for it. Providing them with better non-lethal methods of control and restraint and faster back up seem more likely to me to be their preferred options. Why anyone would wish such things reach Cornwall beats me. Surely it would be a kinder thought to hope that the peace and tranquillity of Cornwall reaches everywhere. Mind you having lived myself in Wisbech I can understand than anyone who still does might feel a little envious of those who have managed to escape.

Considering only about half a dozen countries have unarmed police that’s a lot of people who aren’t in their right mind. Our police are armed more often than not anyway In February 2015, The Times reported that most forces in England and Wales dispatch armed officers to domestic incidents and other routine police call-outs based on information released under Freedom of Information laws; of the 43 police forces sent a request by the Times, half gave only partial information or rejected requests outright.
