To Whom It May Concern.

Please do not report posts that you can see have already been dealt with as you just waste the mods' time

In fairness, the window has only just opened 5 days ago. We are probably eyeing up a few world cup players which will slow things down as they'll be off on their holidays or still playing.

The summer transfer window opened on 17 May and closes on 9 August.

Therefore there’s no gain in them making money now that could be used to keep us up. I know there’s FFP but there’s also scouting and academy players to find and bring on.

We didn’t write the cheques for Benteke and Sakho by accident but we did because we haven’t yet sorted out the scouting and its policy.

I agree at some point we have to sell sometimes or we’ll never grow the numbers that can actually compete on the pitch and it’ll be 2 in and 2 out all the time.

Now’s not the time for hysterics. 1-2 weeks before deadline is more reasonable.

.
In two or three weeks time then!!

I am not really sure that that would be the right time either. It feels strangely in control to me. We don’t have any pressure on us to sell our best players. We have freed up some pretty chunky wages. We don’t seem to be getting into a feeding frenzy, or being linked with all and sundry.

The only worry would be if Roy is unhappy. There is no indication that this is the case.

This time last year, we were a week in to FdB’s reign. Now that was a time for hysterics.

Although there wasn't any indication of problems with either Pulis or Allardyce (or indeed Freedman) until they walked. Not that I'm suggesting there are any issues, but history shows that you just never know. I'm sure Roy would prefer to have new signings in before the pre-season games if possible.

Yes, I agree. But the “news” that I read was that we were talking with Hodgson about extending his Contract.

I have always worked on the premise that I am not going to get hysterical about things that I don’t know. Life is so much better then.

I agree that Roy would prefer new signings earlier, but things feel so much brighter this season. We have a new academy product to get excited about in Wan-BIssaka, we have some wages to play with, we have more than one striker, we have a new quality goalkeeper, Wayne is a pretty good understudy, the squad has some depth - sure we need a few more players - but we still have the nucleus of the side that did pretty well for the last 31 games of last season.

There is still work to do, but no need for hysteria.

What I read a week ago is that Roy had been offered a new contract and I will be happier when I read that he has signed it

I'm not sure that hysteria is the right word to use as if you read everyone's comments on the situation you will see that it's only two or three people who have started panicing already.

Our first team badly needs some quality in midfield and I will only panic on 10th August if that midfield maestro hasn't been signed.

Steve Parish isn't normally shy and it would be nice if he said something comforting like "We are pursuing a number of avenues"

Does Parish oversee the transfers or is it left to Dougie and Roy to sort out ...chairman seems to be on an everlasting holiday

We have never been told who does what and although Roy doesn't say anything his actions speak louder than words when two of our three January signings don't even make it to the bench

My understanding is that Roy identifies the positions that need strengthening and then Dougie sources the players.

But as you pointed out, there appears to be something of a disconnect with that arrangement.
