I did for 30+ years, but they struck me off when I got cancer because they don't want my tainted filthy cancerous blood.

Go figure!

I was on the bone marrow list too, but suspect they now won't want that either.

Funnily enough, I found my gold badge last week whilst turning out.

Best donation I ever had was at the Moor house centre in the City - three people were getting special awards for over 100 donations (during the war years there was no 6 weeks gap, it was as often as you could stand it), and instead of a glass of juice or cup of tea and a biscuit, we got a glass of sherry and smoked salmon sandwiches

I don't give blood but bloody well should.. A mixture of forgetfulness and selfishness has always stopped me...

However I'm a 40 year old smoker and heavily tattooed... I've heard stories about not being able to give if you have a tattoo... Not sure if that's true or not.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

My blood is too polluted.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Good for you

I am between 10-20 at the moment. I think they have extended the time between donations I am only allowed to donate 4 times per year at most.

When they started sending texts telling you where your blood had been sent, the first one I got was telling me it had gone to university hospital, Croydon, formally Mayday, where I was born. Gave me a funny sense of pride.

I got the blue card (5 times?) and binned doing it. Used to bruise up really badly no matter what I did or how much pressure I put on afterwards, probably just my make up, weak veins or whatever.

The Mrs is in the second rarest group and gave blood regularly until our children were born. Labour brought on high blood pressure which she's suffered with ever since.
