The thought just entered my mind replying to a post
Maybe he was and that's where the physiology of religion comes from.

Since different people have different beliefs (or indeed no belief) about what God is the answer must be "it depends". I would say that God is outside time and space and therefore can't be an astronaut.

You could argue that being exempt from the constraints of time and space would be an ideal qualification for senior business management, of course.

I think a lot about organised religion fits around how humans behave at certain times.

Even if we’re not religious we look ‘up to the heavens’ for inspiration and down to the floor when we are feeling guilty.

So, i’m not a believer personally, but respect to those of you who are.

Someone with vastly superior technology would seem like a god to ancient man. Word of mouth stories told over generations could distort the memory and embellish it.

It makes far more sense than the guff that religious types spout. The religious approach is to explain everything away by using the 'certainty' of God as a starting point and fitting the facts around it.
Totally daft.
This doesn't make the astronaut theory true though.

A possibility that has bee suggested for many, many years...... one of the explanations as to why Jesus and the saints are always pictured with 'halos' - they are actually held to be space helmets

When Jesus is on the cross he looks up and
" forgive them Lord for they know not what they do"
A bright light came down from heaven.
And Mary was a virgin, now could that have been artificial insemination.

There are a few lines which could be interpreted or misinterpreted I suppose; which would lead to the thought of the title.
Maybe ET was just ready to zap us like Alderon in star wars and Jesus thought nah give 2-3 millennia and they'll do it themselves !!!

There is actually a large amount of (circumstantial) evidence that the earth was visited by an ancient race of people to re populate the earth, more in fact that backs up the bibles version of events, like the two penguins who walked from Antarctica to the middle east to get on a boat and weren't immediately devoured by a plethora of hungry beasts LOL.
