Was gutted when it finished. The worst TV I have ever seen are the soaps - all of them really.
On another note, imagine if Alf Garnet was around these days - people such snowflakes they wouldn't notice the humour.

Funny you should say that, so were we. Despite being of appalling quality it had a sort of cult appeal and it sort of appealed to the rebel in you, like Spartacus in space I suppose.

Oh I'll tell you what I really, really can't stand.

South Park.

FFS. Hours and hours of cartoons that a 5 year old could draw and dialogue that consists of nothing but potty-mouthed shouting and zero plot.

See where I used to live there was an estate called South Park and the residents got its name changed out of sheer embarrassment when this s*** came on the TV.

I disagree. Graham Norton's show is an old fashioned show where celebrities come on to promote their latest film or book and the show is only as good or bad as it's guests.

I look at the lineup each Friday before deciding whether to watch or not and am often disappointed that someone I wanted to see turns out to be so bland in real life - Johnny Depp is a prime example

I wish when I was out every Friday and Saturday it was Graham Norton’s shyte on telly I was missing because there used to be better stuff missed.

I don't know how old you are but when I was younger it seemed to be non stop chat shows on TV every night and at prime time too. At least nowadays there aren't so many, they are on later at night and we have hundreds of other channels to choose from anyway.

I’m quite a fan of irony, but I’m struggling to understand what ironically bad TV means. Eldorado, for example, was just bad TV wasn’t it? Where’s the irony?

Now Chucklevision.....

Good question. In my books I think ironically bad TV are programmes that are/were made in earnest and with the intent to be taken seriously, but end up being crap.

But it is more than that. The irony is that despite it's awfulness you are drawn to watch it being fully aware of it's rubbishness. In the end it is in the eyes of the beholder - if you watched Eldorado and thought it good then I guess it was not ironically bad (just bad but you weren't aware of it - but perhaps that's an irony in itself!)

It's possible that the OP actually meant "iconically" bad TV, of which Eldorado was an outstanding example.

All day time TV is appalling, the worst of which is shows about people buying houses. I don’t understand why they go to all the trouble of letting some idiot presenter show them a few houses that they are quite capable of looking at themselves on Rightmove.

Why are the presenters "idiots"?
