Would like to see where this goes. Looked good at World Cup.

We should forget about over hyped players from the World Cup. You will always end up paying way more than they are worth. Palace should really be employing Matteo who has put forward countless reasonably priced options in most positions!

And the one position we’re really short of cover is left back

He can play left midfield as well and he's leagues better than Schlupp.

Brighton are splashing 18M on a midfielder from France as we speak. It will be their fifth signing. At least they can use their new players early in their pre-season!

He the one with the Bo Derek Barnet who knows how to "win" a free kick?

Absolutely brilliant. We've got no chance, right? But if he does come...

GET THAT HAIR CUT!!

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

Interesting spin already on this Laxalt link by Transfer Tavern (who I give no credence to), but I would have thought that Souare would be available to suitors in any instance given A) his injuries and B) the fact that we have six defenders who can do a job at left back.

With you here. It has to be massively advantageous getting new players in before season starts.e. giving them chance to settle in with rest of squad; play in friendlies; adapt strategy & tactics further etc.

my only concern is that his name sounds like a brand name for a cure for constipation ... 'a few grains of Laxalt in a glass of warm water' etc.

Yes, one of the factors; and a very important one.

Another is how good the squad was that finished the season; and whether that team has been kept. Assuming Zaha stays as well as Hodgson + coaching team, the only hole in the starting XI is RLC hence the aching need to secure another loan.

Otherwise, bringing in squad depth can be done up to the end of the window, where prices are more competitive and where they can be slowly introduced to be match ready by the winter when the injuries start to mount.

On the other hand, Brighton did not finish as well and thus have arguably more reason to build now as their buys may be ones targeted for first team starts on day one.

RLC yes but we need to replace Cabaye too

According to the Sun (so take with a pinch of salt) Bournmouth have bid 25m for him.

Reading between the lines that's pretty much our total budget. Hopefully we'll miss out on him!
