I used to have an odd sort of crush on the lady who drove the bus. Very much in a sort of Knickerbocker glory style i.e not the sort of thing you might want to enjoy every day but as a treat, once every few months...

The recent 'adaptation' of 'War of the Worlds' is a prime example of that. It looked good, some incredible special effects and yet they tinkered with the story to make it more 'work' to such an extent that they rendered it beyond parody.

Thanks for that.

I recorded it but haven't got around to watching it yet so I won't bother now

You recorded a Sci Fi drama series off of the BBC with the idea of enjoying it?

Your capacity for hope far exceeds mine ME.

There have been some excellent scifi series on BBC. I really enjoyed Quatermass and the Pit

BBC announces 450 job losses but that it not at surprise. What I find staggering is that BBC news employs 6000 people.

I suspect that the BBC is finally waking up to the reality of their situation. Many of the job cuts are to reduce duplication across the network and about time. Individual stations have whole staffs of people reporting on the same news, they have a 24 hour news channel which they could borrow from.

It's not just the news, in sport you regularly get Radio 5 reporting on a live match and a different commentary team from local BBC.

Quality doesn't have to go down they just need to streamline services across their multiple channels and platforms.

BBC News - Errol Graham death: Nottingham man starved after benefits stopped
[Link]

So the guy doesn't turn up to his DWP meetings and gets his benefits stopped. Why are the BBC trying to spin this? Do they hate this country, I'm glad all those people at BBC news are loosing their jobs. If they make up their own news then they need to go.

I think that particular sanction within the system doesn't work well for low IQ adults and/or the mentally ill from fractured non caring families.

But I'd certainly agree with your opinion of the BBC.

Whilst it's a tragedy his family were quick to condemn the government, where were they? You don't starve to death overnight.
